This Is Not a Typical Counseling Job
You won’t simply wait for students to be assigned to you.
As an Education Counselor, you will:
Find prospective students → Build relationships → Counsel students & parents → Recommend the right study options → Follow up → Convert → Enroll
Elevate will provide prospective students through our marketing, school partnerships, events and other channels. At the same time, you will be expected to actively develop your own student pipeline through referrals, networking, outreach, events and other appropriate channels.
If you have succeeded in sales, client acquisition, business development, student recruitment, education counseling or another target-driven client-facing career, we want to hear from you.
Previous study-abroad experience is an advantage, but not essential. We provide comprehensive training in study-abroad counseling and university knowledge.

What You’ll Do

• Professionally counsel students and parents face-to-face and online about international study opportunities.
• Understand each student’s academic background, interests, career goals, budget and preferences and recommend suitable universities and programs.
• Provide accurate information about programs, admission requirements, tuition fees, scholarships, intakes and application procedures.
• Manage, follow up and convert prospective students generated through Elevate’s marketing, school partnerships, events and other channels.
• Actively identify and develop your own prospective students instead of relying only on company-generated leads.
• Build your own student pipeline through referrals, networking, outreach, events, personal/professional connections and other approved channels.
• Build long-term relationships with students and parents and maintain disciplined follow-up throughout their decision-making journey.
• Take ownership of your pipeline from prospect and counseling through application and successful enrollment.
• Achieve assigned individual KPIs and enrollment targets, including self-generated leads, counseling, applications, conversion and enrollments.
• Maintain accurate student, pipeline and follow-up records in company systems.
• Work closely with Student Services, Marketing, School Partnerships and other teams to deliver a strong student experience.
• Continuously develop your knowledge of universities, programs, scholarships and international education opportunities.

Beyond the Office
Our counselors meet students across Myanmar—not only at our Yangon office.
You will be expected to participate in:

• Elevate’s Annual Education Fairs
• University fairs and exhibitions
• Workshops and seminars
• School visits and school events
• City Counseling Sessions and city events
• Other student recruitment and university activities

These activities may take place in Yangon, Mandalay, Taunggyi, Naypyitaw, Mawlamyine, Pyay and other cities across Myanmar.
Some activities may take place on Saturdays, Sundays or public holidays, and business trips may require several days of travel.
Willingness to travel and participate in weekend activities when required is an essential part of this role.Who We’re Looking For

Training & Development
Study-abroad counseling requires extensive professional and product knowledge, so successful candidates will receive structured training from Elevate.
You will learn about:

• Application and student-support processes
• Professional counseling and conversion techniques

You should have:

• A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification.
• Relevant experience in a target-driven, client-facing role.
• Demonstrated ability to find and develop new clients/customers, not only handle incoming inquiries.
• Experience working toward individual sales, revenue, enrollment or other measurable KPIs.
• Strong communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Confidence in meeting, advising and building relationships with students and parents.
• Strong persuasion, negotiation and follow-up skills.
• A proactive, self-motivated and results-oriented mindset.
• Resilience and persistence when prospective clients say no, delay decisions or require long-term follow-up.
• Strong learning ability and willingness to master detailed university and program information.
• Ability to manage multiple prospects and priorities systematically.
• Willingness to travel and work selected weekends/public holidays when required.

Counselors are required to complete company training and pass required written and oral university/product-knowledge assessments, practical exercises and counseling assessments.

Senior Education Counselor – Study Abroad
Candidates with stronger relevant experience and a proven track record may be considered for the Senior Education Counselor – Study Abroad level.
Senior candidates should demonstrate:

• Strong performance in student recruitment, counseling, B2C sales, client acquisition or business development.
• Consistent achievement of individual targets/KPIs.
• Proven ability to independently generate and develop clients.
• Strong counseling, relationship-management and conversion capability.
• Ability to independently manage a substantial pipeline.
• Ability to handle complex student and parent situations.
• Ability to work with limited supervision and support junior team members.

Position level will be determined based on demonstrated capability and performance—not simply years of experience.
