What we do

At MIA, we have three main programs running simultaneously. This starts with our Preschool which is following the alternative ideas of the Montessori method. All our preschool staff are either Montessori certified or presently under training to become so. Our esteemed Principal, Mr. Oliver is also a Montessori certified teacher and is currently helping to train our eager new staff.

After Preschool, our school is split into two different sections, both with their own goals. We have our Private School Program, which adheres to the National Myanmar Curriculum with all subjects covered in Burmese other than English classes. Regular Government Inspectors ensure that we keep the high standard of education that we offer here. Obviously the main focus of this program is to get our students ready, confident and able to sit and score impressive distinctions in the Matriculation Exam.

International Primary School Program follows a British curriculum throughout the school year for our various English levels that range from Year 1 through to 6, which roughly follows the ages for 5 up to 12 years old. All students are level assessed before being placed to both age and ability. All subjects are covered in the English language, as it would be done in any Native English Speaking country. We implement a more student based learning methodology, which encourages a more “discover for yourself” attitude within the classroom, and generally more relaxed atmosphere composed to “ Test, Teach, Test ” Methodology which is more often used in Myanmar Schools.

However, at the end of every unit reached within each class, all students are evaluated with a short quiz to continually monitor students’ progress. Term exams are held at the end of each term to make sure students achieved their targets. We have also integrated the Myanmar Syllabus into British curriculum unlike any other school in Mandalay to enable students to sit the Myanmar National Exams alongside the Unit Tests expected on our International Program. Meaning that our students retain and expand their knowledge of Myanmar as well as progressing in all the other topics.

We look for and hire experienced teachers of all subjects who have both the qualifications and the passion needed to enable them to create a fun and enjoyable experience in the classroom.

We also offer ongoing Teacher Training to our team with more focus on our teaching assistants, to enable them to support all our subject teachers in the best way that they can. So whether you are a parent thinking of sending your child to be educated with us, or a possible future colleague ready to join our team …..

Welcome to our family which is based on a great management team that supports everyone in every way that is needed.

Welcome to MIA.
