JobNet's Q3 Job Market Report gives new insights into Myanmar employment trends

JobNet.com.mm, Myanmar’s number one job recruitment site, has released its Third Quarter report findings, providing timely and accurate insights into Myanmar’s dynamic employment market.

The quarterly Job Market report is a summary and analysis of exclusive data collected on JobNet.com.mm between 1st July and 30th September 2019. With JobNet receiving over 120,000 job applications each month and continually hosting an average of 3,000+ job vacancies, the data gives insight into job market factors such as labour demand, the level of experience being sought, median salaries by sector, top paying job functions, and more.

The continually shifting economic climate - namely the liberalisation of Myanmar’s financial services sector, an increase in manufacturing, an upsurge in tourism and hospitality, as well as an indication of increased foreign direct investment - have all been reflected in the report.

This quarter, demand for Customer Service positions increased significantly while demand for Business and Development roles decreased somewhat. The job market continued to remain somewhat competitive at the entry level; however the majority of jobs on the JobNet platform asking for some level of managerial or executive experience. Overall, demand for jobs in all areas increased signalling positive growth in the job market as a whole. Notably, the market for hospitality jobs increased disproportionately, seeming to confirm predictions of growth within the tourism industry in the current economic climate. In the third quarter we have seen local and foreign entry level salaries dovetail for the first time: great news for local job seekers looking to stay on par with foreign nationals.

JobNet remains committed to supporting Myanmar’s human resource community and will continue to publish quarterly reports each quarter from January 2019. The Q3 extended online report can be downloaded here and an archive list of all reports can be found here.
