1. Position summary:
As Senior VSAT Engineer you will be jointly responsible for the design, configuration and operation of the VSAT network infrastructure.
Together with your fellow engineers you will proactively monitor the vital performance of our networks, and if necessary liaise with external satellite providers if required. As a member of the team you will take part on the continuous improvement of the network and the services we provide.
Occasionally you may have to provide Tier-3 support for issues that are escalated from Tier2, engaging with the NOC or at times directly with customers. Occasionally this may require onsite visits.
Apart from the day-to-day responsibilities you will also be involved in more structural matters such as the design of specific networks and/or services for customized (client) networks as well as the development and integration of certain new network-services related to the VSAT environment.
You will report directly to the CTO.

2. Job Description:
• Responsible for implementing, maintaining, and optimizing satellite broadband platforms, video services platforms, Network and Internet Protocol (IP) infrastructure as well as technologies that are required to support Intelsat Managed Services.
• Service implementation responsibilities include utilizing new technologies, features, and equipment designs.
• Responsible for implementation of satellite broadband platform and associated automation capabilities, fault, and performance monitoring systems.
• Scope of responsibilities to include platform and network infrastructure upgrades and deployments within Satellite Teleport or Point-of-Presence (PoP) facilities.
• Responsible for adherence to structured deployment methodologies and end-to-end testing principals.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering and Architecture teams to ensure streamlined integration and implementation of end-to-end service designs.
• Proactive support in the identification of system dependencies and project scope changes.
• Ensure best practices and procedures are incorporated from a multiple department perspective, within your defined role and responsibility.
• Collaborate with Sales, and other applicable departments to ensure the profitability of all projects.
• Develop effective operating standards and processes, to increase team effectiveness and process alignment.
• Fulfill lead or contributor role to development of technical training materials associated with the roles and responsibilities of position.

3. Important Responsibilities
• Represent the department at all times, as a primary technical point of contact for all VSAT matters.
• Participate in meetings and activities to support sales.
• Engage directly with suppliers and third parties in project and operation mode
• Document and comply with recordkeeping procedure.

Job Requirements
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Must have a Bachelor degree or equivalent technical training or an equivalent combination of education and direct work experience, with at least 6-8 years RF network experience, or 6 years of hands on experience with VSAT and broadband hub platforms
• Knowledge of RF modulation techniques and IP networking
• Hands-On Experience with SCPC And TDMA technologies
• Hands-On Experience with iDirect, Comtech and Novelsat
• Proven track record of successful VSAT deployments as lead engineer
• Provisioning, operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance experience strongly desirable.
• Must have knowledge of and experience with a wide range of technologies including routers, switches, VSAT uplink and downlink hardware, satellite modems, and associated redundancy hardware
• Must have experience with the implementation of satellite services (i.e. working with satellite modems/interfaces and network equipment/interfaces), including strong experience with specifying the configurations of satellite modems at the hub and customer facility
• Must have intermediate knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies and routing protocols (RIP, OSPF, BGP, EIGRP), MPLS traffic engineering and VPN technologies
• Must have working knowledge of TCP, UDP and application layer protocols
• Must have intermediate knowledge and experience working with TCP/IP technologies including IPv4/IPv6 addressing/subnetting, IP unicast routing, IP Multicast routing, and associated technologies
• Experience in prioritizing and coordinating labor, material, subcontractors, rental and testing equipment while working the challenge of meeting deadlines and project milestone dates.
• Must be able to work overtime, weekends, after hours, and travel as needed.
• Very good command of English
