I. Job summary
The English Teacher at Alchemy Academy will lead and take responsibility for delivering outstanding lessons, encouraging students to learn and engage in activities that enhance their language capabilities and social skills, in line with Alchemy Academy’s vision. The English Teacher will also assist with managerial and administrative items related to Alchemy Academy.


II. Duties and responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the English Teacher shall include the following:

1. Overall function:
• To teach and educate students according to:
• Guidelines provided by the Academy;
• The educational needs, abilities and attainment potential of individual students entrusted to the Teacher’s care by the Academy.

• Education:
- Bachelor degree
- BA in Education, Applied Linguistics, English Literature or equivalents from an Internationally accredited university are advantageous
- English language teaching certification (TEFL/TESOL/CELTA/TESOL)

• Working experiences:
- At least 1 year of teaching young learners 4 skills in English, critical thinking
- Be able to incorporate audio-visual and kinesthetic teaching methodologies

2. Main responsibilities
• Planning, preparing and delivering lessons to all students in the class (as directed by Alchemy Academy;
• Regularly monitoring the work carried out in-class;
• Teaching according to the educational needs, abilities and achievement of the individual students and groups of students;
• Ensuring a student-centred classroom that challenges the intellectual capacities of the students with course-appropriate learning resources;
• Nurturing a culture where Teachers view themselves essentially as facilitators of learning and reflective practitioners;
• Making use of audiovisual devices/aids, technology (computers, iPads, cell phones etc.) and other electronic tools during the delivery of the lessons;
• Adhering to the Academy’s code of conduct, particularly with regard to not promoting or criticizing political or religious beliefs;
• Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress, attainment and behaviour of assigned students;
• Registering and monitoring the attendance of students under the Teacher’s care;
• Providing or contributing to oral and written assessments, reports and references relating to individual students or groups of students;
• Participating in arrangements, agreed with the Academy, for the appraisal of students’ performance;
• Providing guidance and advice to students on educational and social matters, in-line with current Academy guidelines, as well as advice on further education and future careers;
• Adopting and working towards implementation of the Academy’s current development plan;
• Communicating, consulting and co-operating with other members of the Academy staff, including those having posts of special responsibility, to ensure the best interests of students;
• Attending level-meetings for the purpose of reporting on progress and highlighting problems or difficulties;
• Ensuring high standards of professional practice, and quality of teaching and learning, through effective dialogue, participating in reciprocal peer observations, and evaluation of class teaching practice by the Academy;
• Attending ad hoc the Academy-related meetings when required;
• Contributing to the professional development of new teachers and student teachers according to arrangements agreed with the Academic Manager;
• Perform other duties as outlined and determined by the Academy.
