Purpose
The Assistant Manager (Finished Goods / Outbound) is responsible for ensuring efficient finished goods warehouse operations, inventory accuracy, optimal warehouse space utilization, timely and cost-effective outbound distribution, and effective reverse logistics. The role coordinates closely with Production, Planning, QA, Sales, Customers, and Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) to ensure smooth order fulfillment, delivery performance, and production continuity.
1. Finished Goods Warehouse Management
- Oversee daily finished goods warehouse operations, including receiving, put-away, storage, picking, staging, and loading activities.
- Ensure accurate inventory control, stock allocation, FIFO/stock rotation, batch traceability, and proper segregation of finished goods.
- Optimize warehouse space utilization, storage locations, housekeeping, product safety, and material handling practices.
- Monitor damaged, rejected, slow-moving, and aged finished goods and coordinate appropriate disposition with relevant departments.
- Lead daily stock reconciliation and weekly/monthly physical stock counts; investigate and resolve inventory variances.
2. Outbound Planning & Capacity Management
- Prepare and coordinate daily/weekly outbound dispatch plans based on customer orders, sales forecasts, finished goods availability, and delivery priorities.
- Coordinate loading sequences, dispatch priorities, truck requirements, and delivery schedules to ensure timely customer fulfillment.
- Coordinate with Sales, QA, Warehouse, Customers, and transport providers to ensure smooth order execution.
- Monitor truck turnaround time, loading productivity, delivery performance, and transportation cost.
3. Transport & 3PL Management
- Manage approved Logistics Service Providers (LSPs) and monitor service quality, availability, safety, and cost performance.
- Recommend and allocate approved LSPs in accordance with company procurement and transportation policies.
- Ensure trucks and drivers comply with company requirements, traffic safety standards, loading procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Review transport performance and identify opportunities for route optimization, fleet utilization, cost reduction, and service improvement.
- Coordinate contingency arrangements during peak demand, truck shortages, breakdowns, or other transport disruptions.
4. Reverse & Return Logistics
- Manage return & collection the empty pallet & top-frame from customer
- Monitor customer return ratios and transportation-related returns and identify root causes.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions to reduce product returns, handling losses, and reverse logistics costs.
- Maintain accurate records of returned materials and coordinate inspection, reconciliation, and disposition with relevant departments.
5. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Coordinate with QA, Planning, Sales, Finance, and Management to support the complete delivery fulfillment.
- Ensure finished goods are released, stored, allocated, and dispatched in accordance with quality and customer requirements.
- Provide operational support during production changes, customer priorities, urgent deliveries, and capacity constraints.
- Maintain effective communication with customers, vendors, and logistics service providers regarding delivery and return matters.
6. Reporting & Documentation
- Establish, review, and implement workflows, SOPs, work instructions, and control procedures for finished goods and outbound logistics operations.
- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports to the Warehouse & Outbound Logistics Manager and relevant management.
- Maintain accurate records related to inventory, dispatch, transportation, returns, LSP performance, and operational KPIs.
- Identify process gaps and lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve productivity, service level, safety, and cost efficiency.
