Safety Supervisor

Job Purpose

The Safety Supervisor is responsible for monitoring and enforcing health and safety requirements at the construction site. The role ensures that construction activities are carried out safely and in compliance with project safety procedures, applicable regulations, and company requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor daily construction activities to ensure compliance with approved safety procedures and requirements.
• Conduct regular site safety inspections and identify unsafe conditions and practices.
• Ensure workers, contractors, and subcontractors follow site safety rules and regulations.
• Ensure appropriate PPE is provided and properly used by all workers.
• Monitor work at height, scaffolding, lifting operations, excavation, electrical works, hot works, and other high-risk activities.
• Check scaffolding, ladders, temporary works, access routes, and working platforms for safe conditions.
• Ensure that safety permits and required approvals are in place before high-risk work begins.
• Conduct toolbox meetings, safety briefings, and site inductions for workers and subcontractors.
• Stop unsafe work immediately when there is an imminent risk to workers or property.
• Report safety violations, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to the Safety Manager or Project Manager.
• Investigate minor incidents and assist with the investigation of accidents and near misses.
• Follow up on corrective and preventive actions to ensure safety issues are properly resolved.
• Maintain safety inspection records, checklists, reports, and other safety documentation.
• Monitor housekeeping and ensure construction areas are kept clean, safe, and accessible.
• Check that emergency exits, fire extinguishers, first-aid facilities, and emergency equipment are available and accessible.
• Coordinate with contractors and subcontractors to ensure their safety requirements are properly implemented.
• Monitor compliance with approved risk assessments and method statements.
• Support emergency drills and ensure workers understand emergency procedures.
• Assist in preparing daily, weekly, and monthly safety reports.
• Attend safety, coordination, and progress meetings as required.
• Provide safety advice and guidance to supervisors, engineers, contractors, and workers.
• Promote a strong safety culture throughout the project.
