The Academic Director possesses managerial, administrative, facilitation, and customer service skills and is responsible for the quality of education in the Speak UP English Schools.

• Manage Academic department.
• Train and build up a strong academic team.
• Work with other departments to ensure the student outcome are reached.
• Prepare and teach Speak UP language classes.
• Build up a Research & Training department to train and audit all academic staff in our Myanmar centres.
• Develop and teach courses in TOEIC, IELTS preparation.
• Provide counselling for students when necessary.
• Participate in student enrolment seminars and Speak UP promotional events when necessary.
• Other tasks as assigned by the General Manager from time to time.
• Employee shall perform his duties primarily in Myanmar with occasional overseas travel.
• Master degree with major in languages or equivalent specialisation.
• Relevant professional qualifications, ESL Teacher Training Certification: TESOL, TEFL, CELTA etc. (prefer CELTA or TESOL)
• Must be a self-starter, alert, energetic, responsible and flexible.
• Committed to delivering high levels of customer service.
• Experience of online language education desirable.

Job Requirements

• At least 5 years professional experience in education – direct teaching, English language training, etc.
• At least 3 years of management experience in educational field.
• Experience in teaching communication courses for adults.
• Customer-centric attitude.
• Excellent in training, team building, communication and coaching
• Must be responsible, pleasant, courteous, cooperative and an enthusiastic team player who displays good human relations’ skills.
• Must be flexible in working hours.
• Advanced Proficiency in English, minimum of IELTS level 6 preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Email.
• Experience of using a Learning Management System desirable.
• Follow SUM Code of Professional Teaching Practice.
