Major Function

Under the supervision and guidance of the Forest Programme Manager, the Project Officer will primarily support the implementation of the Voices for the Mekong Project (V4MF) in DTL. He/she is responsible for all aspects of project operations including planning, implementation, budget monitoring and management, reporting, and liaising with V4MF Project team in Myanmar and in Mekong.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:

• Liaise with V4MF Project management team in Myanmar and in the Mekong region, as well as other non state and government actors in DTL.
• Actively engage in project team planning and meetings and provide valuable inputs in ensuring effective and efficient delivery of project outputs.
• Help collect and input M&E data from the DTL and compile reporting materials.
• Coordinate implementation of V4MF project field based activities and initiatives, including workshops, meetings, and related events
• Supervise consultants engaged in the implementation of V4MF project.
• Contributeto stakeholder mapping of non state actors within the DTL particularly in Kayin State and building linkages with Karen and other ethnic minority groups in the landscape
• Facilitate of trainings of project partners in the fields of forest governance and forest governance monitoring system

Job Requirements

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in forestry or natural resource management
• At least 3 years of experience in forest conservation and forest industry. Demonstrate experience of working with forest companies, government, NGOs and forest communities.
• Experience in leading and managing project in the sector of conservation and civil society or community engagement in landscape management and natural resource management.
• Track record in implementing projects funded by a diversity of sources including governments and aid agencies, private sector donors. Sida experience is an advantage.
• Thorough understanding of development, socio-economic, political, conservation, and natural resource management issues in Myanmar
• Good written and spoken English
• Strong oral and written communication and organizational skills.
• Willingness to travel to rural locations
• Myanmar language, including Karen is an asset
