Brief Description
The Translator Cum Interpreter will be willing to learn and to support the project team and Government Ministry.

Mekong Economics Myanmar is recruiting a Translator cum Interpreter, based in Nay Pi Daw (or willing to work fulltime in Naypidaw) for the IRRIGATED AGRICULTURE INCLUSIVE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT funded by the ASIAN DEVELOPMENT BANK (ADB) and implemented by the Project Unit Management (PMU) under the Executing Agency (EA), the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MOALI).

Responsibilities:
• Act as full-time interpreter and translator to the Project Management Unit. Ensure complete translation and interpretation with seamless understanding of Myanmar contributions in meetings and conversations.
• Translate documents from English into Myanmar and vice versa as required by the Project Manager such as reports, project documents, meeting notes, etc.
• Act as interpreter for workshops, meetings, training courses and study tours, etc.
• Pro-actively lower or eliminate possible communication and cultural barriers between Myanmar and English speaking partners at all levels.
• Ensuring good quality report, smooth coordination with international specialists, backstopping office of Mekong Economics, and development partners, and will also help the national Project Manager focus on his intended substantial tasks.

Requirements:

MUST
• Living in Nay Pyi Taw or willing to relocate to Nay Pyi Taw
• Minimum 1 to 2 years of experience
• Proficient English in translation and interpretation
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), scheduling appointments/updating calendars
• Hold a university and/or Master degree in English Linguistic, English As a Second Language, English Literature or relevant fields
• Excellent English and Burmese (spoken and written)
