Job Description

Teaching and Learning

  • Plan and deliver engaging ESL lessons aligned with the school’s curriculum and language proficiency standards.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the varying language needs and abilities of students.
  • Support students in developing academic English and social communication skills.
  • Use a range of instructional strategies, technology, and resources to enhance language acquisition.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and student-centered classroom environment.
  • Integrate reading, writing, speaking, and listening skills into lessons.
  • Support students in mainstream classes through collaboration or push-in/pull-out support models where applicable.

Assessment and Progress Monitoring

  • Assess students’ English proficiency using formal and informal assessment methods.
  • Monitor and document student progress regularly.
  • Provide timely feedback to students and parents regarding language development and achievement.
  • Maintain accurate records of assessments, reports, and student progress data.

Collaboration

  • Work closely with subject teachers to support language learners across subjects.
  • Collaborate with learning support staff, counsellors, and school leadership as needed.
  • Participate in curriculum planning meetings and professional learning activities.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding student progress and support strategies.

Student Wellbeing and Safeguarding

  • Promote student wellbeing, inclusion, and respect for cultural diversity.
  • Maintain high expectations for student behaviour and engagement.
  • Follow all school safeguarding, child protection, and health and safety policies.
  • Act as a positive role model for students in behaviour, professionalism, and communication.

Professional Responsibilities

  • Participate in school events, parent-teacher conferences, and extracurricular activities as required.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development related to ESL teaching and international education.
  • Contribute positively to the wider school community.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, TESOL, Linguistics, or a related field.
  • Teaching qualification/certification recognized for international school teaching.
  • TESOL/TEFL/ESL certification preferred.
  • Previous experience teaching ESL students in an international or multicultural environment preferred.
  • Experience with Cambridge, IB, or other international curricula is an advantage.
