An Exciting Opportunity for ...

The School Medical Officer is responsible to deliver on all health-related agendas across the school, whilst providing students and staff with high quality medical and administrative support. The team has responsibility for safeguarding, attendance, personal issues and behaviour management.

 

Job Responsibilities

• Managing and delivering all first aid requirements, structures and processes throughout the school for students. 
• Supervise and oversee the work of the first aider(s). 
• Administering nursing care to deal with the daily medical needs and with illness, injury and medical emergencies. 
• Maintaining an awareness of the latest First Aid techniques and procedures. 
• Following school policy, ensure department stores and issues individual children’s prescribed medication, and keeps appropriate records. 
• Devise and maintain all administration structures and procedures necessary to deliver an effective first aid service and delivery. 
• Liaise with parents, staff and other outside agencies for students with ongoing medical conditions. 
• Maintain the school health records and student medical plans and report accidents and public health issues to the appropriate personnel. 
• Stock up on medical supplies and ensure first aid boxes, eye stations etc. are maintained at all times.
 • Maintain student medical plans 
• Organise first aid training to all staff as required and oversee first aid cover for all functions of the school. 
• To produce medical department statistics as required.

Job Requirements

- Bachelor's degree/ A master's degree in medicine.
- At least four years' experience in health administration.
- Clinical risk management experience.
- Extensive knowledge of medical recordkeeping practices.
- Experience of working with children of relevant age in a learning environment is desirable. 
- Advanced ability to ensure the highest standards in patient care and compliance with healthcare regulations.
- Strong administration and organisational skills
- Computer literate. 
- Excellent and empathetic communication skills, good analytical, organisational and writing skills
- The ability to build excellent relationships with members of staff and pupils 
- The ability to keep calm in any situation and to deal with individuals who may be angry or emotional.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
