  • Control the operation of your unit and team by ensuring SAPS requirements and all policy and procedures are followed.
  • Stop unsafe behaviors when observed.
  • Regularly inspect the work area for hazards and safety compliance.
  • Recognize safe behavior and promote within your work group.

  • Know, understand and enforce safety laws, standards and practices.
  • Set an example for fellow workers to follow by implementing the Denko Safety System and Denko ERP system in your unit/team.
  • Discuss the safety aspects of all operations with your workers and the importance of workplace health and safety as per Safety System.
  • Ensure that safety is included in all worker departmental inductions and job training sessions.
  • Ensure that every worker required to undertake any task has adequate job training and safety instructions given and recorded and that standard work procedures are adhered to.
  • Investigate all incidents to determine causes and what corrective action is required.
  • Instruct workers in the safe use of personal protective equipment issued.
  • Ensure that first aid locations, fire protection equipment, evacuation procedure and other emergency procedures are made known to all workers under your control.
  • Ensure all equipment tests and inspections are complied with as required by law and highlighted in the Safety System and Standard Operation Practice manuals.
  • Regularly Review and audit safety performance and Safety System compliance in your business unit/department.
  • Review daily inventory movement by means of running reports to verify that there are no deficits or surpluses, or any significant losses recorded. Prepare end of day reports for sharing. Investigate discrepancies & implement corrective measures.
  • Supervise operators, and execute day-to-day safe operations in the tank farm, jetty, warehouse and loading gantries.
  • Review the facility operations on a daily basis daily by means of inspections, walkabouts, observations and completing checklist and/or relevant reports. Participate in investigations and implementation of permanent solutions.
  • Perform and/or coordinate work with contractors – supply, jetty and farm operations, maintenance activities at the Terminal based on standard procedures. Execute any task entrusted/delegated by the Superintendent relating to the safe operations of the Terminal.
  • Comply with company requirements and systems relating to Safety System, HSE & Quality and other Company policies.

Job Requirements

  • Electrical, mechanical or industrial qualifications.
  • Degree in any discipline or Engineering Diploma or Technical Certificate.
  • 5 years minimum experience in oil industry facilities, in areas related to supply chain.
  • 10 years minimum experience if educational requirements not met.
  • Preferably with knowledge of ISO 9000 & ISO 14001
  • Computer literacy: Microsoft Office applications.
  • English and + Local (depending on location)
  • Proactive and willing to propose the continuous improvement of the facilities and processes applied in the plant
  • Strong leadership supervisory skills
  • Excellent written, oral, and personal communication skills
  • Great organizational drive
  • Detail and task oriented
  • Team player
