• Develop detailed electrical designs for low, medium & high voltage switchgear & controls for systems that control multiple generators and parallel to one or more utility sources.
• Create and review AC and DC schematics, wiring diagrams, and single-line diagrams for project submittals, construction drawings and as-built’s drawing.
• Design and implement power system control schemes including switchgear transfer control, load management control, generator control, microgrid control and SCADA, RTU system development.
• Review and consult in PLC programs for switchgear control.
• Modify template HMI programs to coincide with project-specific PLC programs.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable standard codes.
• Complete protection system design reviews to check accuracy and completeness of designs.
• Identifying and clarifying technical ambiguities and conflicts in the documents.
• Analyze technical inconsistencies, oversights and mistakes.
• Provide technical and managerial recommendations to the proposal team based on the project/ contract requirement.
• Able to simulate, analyze and design using electrical design software in protection and coordination analysis, load flow analysis, short circuit analysis and transient stability analysis.
• Develop the Design Criteria and the document deliverables list for the project.
• Design protection and control schemes to fulfill user specifications and requirements.
• Able to perform protection & control equipment design and application at all stages, starting from conceptual design, design development stage and detailed engineering stage.
• Assessment of protection & control equipment to meet the requirements of the electrical standards.
• Working with protection single-lines, Gas Insulated (GIS), Local Control Cabinet (LCC), schematics, protection and telecommunication interfaces, review of control & protection drawings, CT sizing, relay setting/coordination.
• Utilize knowledge of the electrical engineering standard to ensure that power system protection designs comply with the required electrical standards.
• Generate equipment specifications, monitor vendor technical compliance and witness factory acceptance testing.
• Provide construction, installation & commissioning support.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze and problem solving.
• Must have diversified knowledge of engineering principles and practices as applied to substation engineering, design, and operation in the electric utility industry.
• Strong experience in power system steady and transient analysis, fault study and protection theory.
• Past experience of working within the electrical Transmission and Distribution Industry.
• Have Degree BSc or MSc level in Electrical Engineering (or an equivalent and relevant qualification).

Proficient to advance level experience in working with relevant CAD programmes to complete work / projects efficiently and accurately, and to deadlines

• Working Knowledge in Protection and Control Design Requirements.
• Familiarity with safety, regulatory compliance requirements.
• Working experience with study software and power system tools such as DigSilent, CAPE or Etap.
• Working knowledge on substation communication protocols such as IEC 61850.
• Knowledge of electrical engineering standard and codes is preferred.
