Design Solar PV systems, including single line diagrams, array layouts, fence layout, road layout using Engineering CAD software such as in AutoCAD.
Establish Solar PV basis of design including module selection, string sizing, ground coverage ratio, inverter selection, inverter power factor requirements, inverter loading ratio, and cable sizing.
Perform energy performance modeling using PVSyst software. Primary use is of PVSyst, but some knowledge of HelioScope and PVSOL is required.
Determine suitable locations for solar PV installation based on site visits and risk assessments.
Assess/survey site conditions and anticipate issues that may arise during construction.
Demonstrate structural, mechanical, and electrical design skills, ability to generate construction drawings.
Use excel spreadsheets and calculations to size Solar PV system estimation.
Oversee installation of lightning protection systems. Review the test results of solar PV and grounding systems.
Develop, prepare and review feasibility studies for solar PV projects.
Understanding of utility PPA and Interconnection requirements.
Preparation of all documentation for technical due diligence with project requirement.
Assess project team and processes to identify how current technologies are being used, how to apply lean techniques, and identify potential areas for improvement.
Research and review new technologies of Solar PV system with engineering team members in order to achieve greater effectiveness.
Develop new technology evaluation methods and standards.
Apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices to tasks, particularly when analyzing current technical tools, and evaluating tools.
Communicate field observations with design engineering to achieve design solutions.
Read technical articles to keep up with latest products, design techniques, and construction strategies.
Identifying and clarifying technical ambiguities and conflicts in the documents.
Analyze technical inconsistencies, oversights and mistakes.
Provide technical and managerial recommendations to the proposal team based on the project/ contract requirement.
Develop the design criteria and the document deliverables list for the project.
Able to understand and review substation layout and section drawings.
Able to perform protection & control equipment design and application at all stages, starting from conceptual design, design development stage and detailed engineering stage.
Prepare conceptual level designs of mega, utilities and commercial solar PV plant.
Generate equipment specifications, monitor vendor technical compliance and witness factory acceptance testing.
Provide construction, installation & commissioning support.
Manage project schedules and budgets to provide accurate resource loading for the project.
Knowledge of electrical engineering standard and codes is preferred.

Job Requirements

Demonstrated ability to analyze and problem solving.
3 plus years of experience in solar PV system design, preferably utility scale.
Must be proficient in PVSyst and related solar performance modeling software.
Have Degree BSc or MSc level in Electrical Engineering (or an equivalent and relevant qualification).
Proficient to advance level experience in working with relevant CAD programmes to complete work / projects efficiently and accurately, and to deadlines.
Familiarity in civil design requirements for a Solar PV plant construction.
Familiarity with safety, regulatory compliance requirements and construction codes.
Demonstrated ability to perform effectively within a driven work environment.
Strong ability to apply innovative and creative skills to problem solving.
