The Bago Division is the most central state in Myanmar. It lies on the main highway between Yangon to Naypyitaw which then goes further to Mandalay. It is bordered by various divisions including Magway Division, Mon State, and the Ayeyawady Division. most of the land is used for rice, but the division also has a hydropower plant, which may provide opportunities for engineers and technical workers.
Regarding tourist attractions, Bago has Shwemawdaw Pagoda (which is larger than Shwedagon) as well as Myanmar’s most famous reclining Buddha, Shwethalyaung Buddha. As Bago (the capital city of the division) is only 2.5 hours by train from Yangon, many of the tourist destinations in the region can be reached in day trips from Yangon, meaning that there is not a lot of opportunity in hospitality and tourism. There are some opportunities for drivers as that is the easiest way for tourists to get around.
Saying that though, Bago, and the Bago Division are located on the main highway so there are career opportunities for those professionals in functions such as logistics and distribution as Bago is located between Mandalay, Yangon and Southern Myanmar. For example, the Carlsberg Brewery is located in Bago which makes perfect sense for the distribution of their beer.
Myanmar is currently experiencing unprecedented economic growth, and with that comes an abundance of foreign investment. The Bago Division has a distinct geographical advantage being centrally located on the main highway. It is the central nervous system for many industries meaning there are many employment opportunities across an array of functions.
Infrastructure projects on the roads require civil engineers, and these projects need project managers as well as other professionals such as finance managers and administration assistants. To work on these projects skill trades and construction workers are also in high demand.
The Bago Division also has hospitals meaning that those in the medical/ hospital professions should be able to find work. Likewise for those in education and training as Bago does have schools and universities, though not as many as Yangon or Mandalay.
