Job Description:
Supports the Fleet Manager in overseeing the office staff, drivers, helpers, fleet yard, and security operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant transport services.
Scope of Work:
Fleet Maintenance:
• - Supervise preventive/periodic and breakdown maintenance activities.
• - Perform pre-trip and end-trip inspections for all trucks and trailers.
• - Verify estimated costs of repairs and review vendor quotations.
• - Select appropriate internal/external workshops based on issue category (chassis, electrical, suspension, etc.).
• - Lead zero-setting and profiling of all trucks, trailers, tools, tires, and batteries.
Inventory & Technical Oversight:
• - Ensure proper tracking of all inventory, tools, and equipment.
• - Set up and monitor inventory levels for critical, urgent, and normal repair classifications.
• - Submit bi-weekly inventory usage reports with justifications.
People Management:
• - Supervise daily attendance, shift rosters, and overtime of maintenance staff.
• - Guide the in-house team ,including senior/junior mechanics and helpers.
• - Conduct performance evaluations and technical briefings.
SOPs & Strategic Planning:
• - Assess and update SOPs for maintenance processes.
• - Design preventive maintenance checklists and schedules.
• - Develop regional breakdown maintenance response protocols.
Accountability:
Full accountability for execution quality, compliance with repair SLAs, and cost control in maintenance
Operational:
- People Management: Recruit, train, and supervise the fleet officers, drivers/helpers; ensure safe driving, PPE, and company policies are followed.
- Ensure all operational activities comply with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Track and analyze truck utilization and operational efficiency using fleet management tools.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize fleet utilization, maximize revenue trips, and minimize idle time.
- Plan, schedule, and supervise vehicle repairs, preventive maintenance, and workshop activities.
- Supervise fuel consumption control and GPS monitoring systems to optimize fleet efficiency.
- Incident/Accident Handling: Attend incidents, investigate, prepare reports, coordinate with insurance and authorities, and implement corrective actions and reporting to Head of Department and Managing Director.
- Fleet & Yard Management: Supervise security company per contract, oversee CCTV and access control, maintain yard administration, and ensure documentation and compliance for trucks, trailers, and operators.
