The position is responsible for formulating and implementing the Association’s mission, goals and objectives and related policies in accordance with ILAM CEC decision and policy guidelines. The Executive Director is also responsible for budget and fiscal management, and serves the best to the membership on behalf of ILAM. Other key duties include: Policy and Management - Oversees general management of the ILAM Secretariat office and supervises staff of the Secretariat on behalf of ILAM- To implement policies, the vision, mission and strategies of ILAM as approved by the Central Executive Committee and the General Secretaries;- To work together with the Central Executive Committee to develop and strengthen the role of ILAM and lawyers in Myanmar on a national, regional and international level. Relationship building- Maintain strong relationships with donors, program implementers, keep updated listing or database of contact information, potential funding opportunities, and donor technical priorities- To maintain effective communications and liaison with the General Secretary, Central Executive Committee, Sub-committee and members of ILAM, on behalf of the Secretariat. - Represent ILAM locally, regionally, and internationally (such as at meetings with donors, senior government officials and parliamentarians, potential partners, etc.)- Nurture/shape organizational development to develop ILAM systematically as the respected legal professional association of Myanmar.Financial Role- Oversees the budget of ILAM; Implement the strategic financial plan including organizational, annual, monthly activity budgeting in adherence to ILAM financial procedures- Develop/ diversify new sources of incomes/funding from members and donors for the association financial sustainability (together with Project Manager, develop concept notes and budgets for future ILAM projects in line with their constitutional objectives)- Manage programs/projects and policies implementation of ILAM in accordance with policy decision, guidelines and instructions of ILAM CEC.
Qualification: Graduate and Post-Graduate in relevant social science degrees, such as Bachelor/Master degree of Laws, political science, social work, public administration, and business administration. Law degree-holders are strongly encouraged to apply. Experience and Skills: Experienced in management of the office/its staffs in similar fields (Not less than 7 year experience); experience in project management, financial management, organizational implementation, development and maintenance of good donor relationships; Fluent in English, and Burmese, both written and spoken; IT literate. Leadership: Strategic, skillful, diplomatic, collaborative and team-work oriented; Managerial, supervisory, multi-tasking; Comfortable in working with the diverse and challenging context; Strong work ethic, personal integrity and sound judgmentDesirable: Experienced in management of a Secretariat in legal field, with possession of Postgraduate qualification in a relevant field such as business administration, political science, public policy, development management, and Law degree Standards: In carrying out the above, the Executive Director will at all times adhere to the highest professional standards and to ILAM procedures and policies as directed by the CEC and will ensure that his/her staff do the same.
