Job Description

Job Summary:
To assist and responsible to the Chief Engineer for the integrity of the hotel physical facilities including proper operation, maintenance of M&E plants and installation, fire and life safety, physical security of the building, FF&E.

The job scope includes performing the related position tasks of handling all four buildings of Hotel, Office Tower, Residence and
the apartments which are directly managed by the Hotel Management.

Duties & Responsibilities:
1. To assist Chief engineer in the management, organization and control of all areas of responsibilities as established by hotel.
2. To act on behalf of Chief Engineer in his absence.
3. To ensure the following policies & procedures are implemented and maintained:
• Fire & life safety program
• Effective preventive maintenance program
• Work request (work order) program
• Energy conservation program
• Water & sewage quality control program
• Training program
• Physical security program
4. To provide supervision and guidance and on the job training to associates and to follow up on work progress to ensure that it is properly carried out and completed on time schedule with acceptable quality. Constantly review & inspect completed works (preventive and work request) for any deficiencies that need to be follow up for accuracy and completeness.
5. To maintain contact and good rapport with the local authorities, contractors, suppliers。And to familiarize self with all local laws, particularly as they pertain to the building, engineering codes & practices.
6. To implement and maintain the work request program and preventive maintenance program to ensure it is complied, completed and accurate.
7. Continuously determine opportunities for improving productivity from associates in term of utilization, work methods and performance. To evaluate and analyze the need to make adjustment and modification to the operation as well as any related training.
8. To ensure that operational features are performed in accordance with the design intent of the facility with strict regard for safety and energy conservation.
9. To coordinate and communicate engineering work activities with other departments concerning identification of repair and maintenance problems and requirements, satisfaction with work in progress, and work completed.
10. To develop work plan prior to the intended execution of work, considering all possible disruption that could cause to the guests and other operating departments, manpower and materials availability, in order to minimize adverse impact to the operation.
11. To trouble shoot and make recommendation for remedial action for system deficiencies.
12. To assist in maintaining inventory of all tools, materials and parts. To coordinate with purchasing department for sourcing of parts, materials and contract services locally.
13. To monitor the implementation of energy conservation program and to prepare monthly utilities consumption reports. To ensure that monthly utilities invoices are collected on time and to analyze and highlight any discrepancy to the Chief engineer office with explanation.
14. To ensure that all associates from the engineering fully understand the operation of the fire & life safety system and procedures.
15. To conduct daily briefing to all associates and to highlight all major activities taking place for the day include banqueting events and its engineering support requirement,
16. To check daily associates attendance records & personal grooming and to review daily work logs for incomplete works follow up. To check daily water treatment result, and to coordinate with housekeeping for checking of VIP rooms and front office for guest rooms needed for Ken Fix It program.
17. To initial proposed operating & capital expenditures budget pertaining to POMEC system to Chief engineer for consideration.
18. To maintain and update complete file of technical manuals, parts list, drawings, FF&E list for all equipment, plants etc.
19. To prepare monthly report to the Chief engineer regarding the operation status of all systems, preventive maintenance works completed and outstanding works or backlog for the work request program, preventive maintenance works schedule to be carried out for next month.
20. To conduct bimonthly inspection of the engineering work places, equipment and tools to ensure it is free of danger and hazard.
21. To demonstrate leadership quality and high degree of moral among all associates. To conduct himself in an exemplary manner and promote cordial relations and cooperation with all departments.
22. Encourages team work and spirit in all areas of the department
23. Ensures all the team be aware of the objectives of the department.
24. Ensures all the team be aware of the Department Mission Statement.
25. Ensures all the team be aware of the brand standards.
26. Ensures all the team be familiar with all hotel policies and procedures and embraces such in the department
27. To perform other duties as may be assigned by Chief engineer

Job Requirements

Job Knowledge / Skill:
1. Knowledge and skills in all aspect of M&E works repair and maintenance, as well as building maintenance.
2. Know basis PC knowledge and use of Microsoft office application software.

Education:
Formal education from technical institute, preferably with diploma or degree qualification in engineering.


Experience:
Min 5 years working experience in similar capacity, preferably from international hotel chains.


Additional Skill required:
Good written and communication skills in both Chinese and English.
