Job Purpose:

Assistant Chief People Officer (ACPO) is to oversee all aspects of an organization's human resources and talent management strategy. The role of a Assistant CPO is multifaceted and encompasses various responsibilities aimed at ensuring the organization has the right talent, culture, and structures in placoe to achieve its strategic objectives. Our Assistant CPO will need to always strive to make the organization the best place to work for all the team members till the last mile. Assistant CPO will report directly to the CEO.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Strategic Human Resource Management: Developing and executing a comprehensive human resources strategy aligned with the organization's overall goals and objectives. This involves planning for workforce needs, talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning.
  • Ensure the Human Resource strategy supports the needs of the business in the short, medium and long term, but it is also flexible enough to cope with changes in the organization, as and when they occur.
  • Ensure that every aspect of human resource incorporates the vision, values, and culture of the organization.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and yearly HR Reports, Manpower Planning, HR Budget Report and submit regularly to Chairman contribute HR Analytics in Management Decision Making.
  • Talent Acquisition and Management: Overseeing the recruitment and selection process to attract and retain top talent. This includes developing effective hiring practices, employer branding, and creating programs to support employee development and career progression.
  • Employee Relations and Engagement: Fostering a positive and inclusive work environment where employees feel valued, engaged, and motivated. This involves promoting a culture of open communication, teamwork, and collaboration, as well as managing employee relations issues and conflict resolution.
  • Performance Management: Implementing performance management systems and processes to evaluate employee performance, provide feedback, and support continuous improvement. This may include setting performance goals, conducting performance reviews, and recognizing and rewarding achievements. Identifying, evaluating, and resolving human relations, employee morale, work performance, and organizational productivity concerns.
  • Organizational Development and Change Management: Leading initiatives to drive organizational effectiveness and adaptability. This may involve organizational restructuring, change management, and implementing programs to enhance employee productivity, innovation, and agility.
  • Conduct training needs analysis and designs and implement a training plan with input from CEO.  Manage any costs to the budget.
  • Employee Well-being and Benefits: Developing and managing employee well-being programs, health and wellness initiatives, and benefits packages to support the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of employees.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensuring compliance with relevant employment laws, regulations, and industry standards. This includes managing legal and regulatory risks related to employment practices, diversity, equity, and inclusion. Guides and manage the overall provision of Human Resource services, policies, and programs for the entire company. Deal with any discipline, performance or grievance issues in a legally compliant and professional way.
  • Executive Leadership and Collaboration: Serving as a strategic advisor to the executive leadership team and collaborating with other functional areas such as finance, operations, and marketing to drive organizational success.

Job Requirements

Knowledge Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources from an accredited university. MBA in HRM or MSc in HRM will be an advantage
  • Minimum (10) Years working experience in HR Field and at least 5 years’ experience in the same role
  • Commercial knowledge related to telecommunications industry, preferably gained while working in a multicultural environment with a multinational organisation.
  • Strong effective communicator in writing, business presentations and in interpersonal communication.
  • Demonstrates a high degree of confidentiality and unusually high common sense.
  • Able to direct the efforts of a team of diverse human resource professionals.
  • Demonstrated ability to increase productivity and continuously improve methods, approaches, and departmental contribution while being cost-sensitive.
  • Expert in employment law and employee relations and communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to see the big picture and provide useful and strategic advice and input across the company and on the senior executive team.
  • Ability to lead in an environment of constant change.
  • Experience working in a flexible, employee empowering work environment.
  • Familiarity and skill with the tools of the trade in human resource including a Human Resource Management System, Microsoft Office suite of products, file management, and benefits administration.
  • Experience in organisation development and change management.
  • Can quickly establish credibility and respect and build strong working relationships with department managers.  Demonstrable maturity, professionalism and gravitas.
  • Ability to recognise the value and responsibility of working in a team, actively supports and develops team members, quick to identify and problem solve any issues.
  • Act as a role model for the organisation looks beyond own team as a role model and source of knowledge.  Works with others in a collaborative and solutions focused manner to achieve win-win outcomes.
  • Able to work to deadlines and adapt to changing conditions ability to generate effective and pragmatic solutions to new situations and problems as they are presented.
  • The ability to inspire confidence of the CEO and other senior managers through timely delivery of information and plans.  Works independently of CEO, but consults where appropriate.
  • Commercial acumen - has a good overall understanding of company finances and uses this information to push back and support managers in resource and succession planning.
  • Able to problem solve both operational and strategic issues through a pragmatic and commercially sound approach.
  • Effectively plans ahead to anticipate problems, plans for worst-case and best-case scenarios.
  • Makes sensible, intelligent decisions in difficult and deadline driven situations.
