HEI Schools Yangon sets a new benchmark for early childhood education in Yangon, guided by Finland’s internationally recognized educational philosophy. Developed in collaboration with HEI Schools and the University of Helsinki, our school combines research-informed pedagogy with child-centered, play-based learning. Position Overview

The Head of School will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for HEI Schools Yangon. This role combines educational vision with executive management, ensuring that the school delivers world-class early childhood education while maintaining a safe, nurturing, and inspiring environment for children, staff, and families. The Head of School will also act as the primary liaison with government authorities and education departments to ensure compliance with local regulations.

 

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and implement the school’s vision, mission, and educational philosophy in alignment with HEI Schools and Finnish pedagogy
  • Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the curriculum and school programmes
  • Ensure the school maintains high standards of teaching, learning, and child wellbeing

Operational & Administrative Leadership

  • Oversee all school operations, including staffing, budgeting, compliance, and facilities management
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures that promote a safe, efficient, and nurturing environment
  • Monitor school performance through regular evaluations, data analysis, and reporting

Team Leadership & Development

  • Inspire, mentor, and manage faculty and administrative staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous professional development
  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, and performance management for teaching and support staff
  • Organize and chair regular leadership and staff meetings to ensure alignment and cohesion

Government & Regulatory Liaison

  • Serve as the school’s primary point of contact with relevant government departments and education authorities
  • Ensure compliance with local regulations, licensing, and reporting requirements
  • Coordinate inspections, audits, and official communications with education authorities
  • Keep leadership and staff informed of any changes in regulations or policy impacting school operations

Community Engagement

  • Build strong partnerships with families, ensuring effective communication and engagement
  • Represent the school to external stakeholders, including the local community, education authorities, and HEI Schools network
  • Promote the school’s reputation as a leading early childhood institution in Yangon and the region

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Education, Educational Leadership, or related field (Master’s preferred)
  • Extensive experience in early childhood education leadership or school management
  • Demonstrated experience liaising with government/education authorities preferred
  • Strong knowledge of child-centered, play-based, and inquiry-led pedagogy
  • Ability to lead and inspire multicultural teams
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and strategic planning skills
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written)
