Job Summary

The Junior Accountant is responsible for managing all financial accounting operations of Myanmar Yachting Federation (MYF), ensuring accurate financial records, regulatory compliance, and timely reporting to Executive Committee. This position consolidates organizational expenses, prepares annual budgets and cash plans, manages daily cash operations, and coordinates audit processes.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Consolidate all Myanmar Yachting Federation expenses and submit annual Audit reports together with required documentation to the Ministry of Sports and other relevant government departments, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements and deadlines
  • Draft annual Estimated Budget and Cash Deployment Plan based on organizational strategic priorities and operational needs, presenting comprehensive budget proposals to the Executive Committee for review and approval
  • Compare Estimated Budget versus Actual expenditures on a monthly basis, preparing detailed variance analysis reports with explanations for significant deviations, and deliver Monthly Financial Reports with professional presentations to the Executive Committee
  • Establish and review Budget Allotments for different departments and programs, monitor allocation utilization and making recommendations for budget adjustments as necessary to ensure fiscal responsibility
  • Process daily cash payments and receipts, maintaining accurate cash logs, performing daily denomination reconciliation to ensure cash accountability, and investigating any discrepancies immediately
  • Prepare Invoices and Official Receipts for all revenue transactions including membership fees, sponsorships, training fees, and other income sources, ensuring proper documentation and record-keeping
  • Conduct internal audits of financial transactions and records, prepare comprehensive audit documentation and working closely with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process and obtain clean audited financial statements
  • Compile and categorize all expenses related to overseas competitions and sea training programs, preparing detailed Financial Reports that account for all costs including travel, accommodation, equipment, and per diems for athletes and officials
  • Prepare Telegraphic Transfer (T/T) forms for international payments, coordinate with banks to process payments efficiently, maintain complete payment records, and track foreign currency transactions
  • Perform monthly bank book updates by reconciling bank statements with internal cash books, following up on outstanding items, and executing all necessary banking processes including deposits, withdrawals, and statement requests
  • Complete all assigned tasks promptly according to business needs and organizational priorities, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness to urgent financial matters and ad-hoc requests from management
  • Participate actively in Yearly Inventory taking exercises, coordinating inventory counts of equipment, supplies, and fixed assets, and reviewing inventory reports for accuracy and completeness to support asset management

Periodically, the employee may be expected to perform assigned duties and tasks not covered in his job description as well as to provide support to other departments when necessary.

Job Requirements

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSAs):

  • Proficiency in financial accounting software, spreadsheet applications (Microsoft Excel), and database management
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to reconcile accounts, identify discrepancies, and resolve financial issues
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in financial record-keeping and reporting
  • Knowledge of audit procedures and internal control requirements
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple deadlines
  • Integrity and ethical conduct in handling confidential financial

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field required
  • Minimum 2-3 years of progressive accounting experience
  • Experience with budget preparation, financial reporting, and audit coordination
  • Familiarity with banking operations, payment processing, and cash management
