Key Responsibilities
Supporting Teaching and Learning

● Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging and age-appropriate music lessons in line with school
expectations.
● Assess, record, and report on pupil progress in music, using assessmentto inform future
planning.
● Adaptteaching to meetthe needs of diverse learners, including EAL and SEND pupils.
● Promote high standards of musical understanding, creativity, and engagementin practical
music-making, including singing, instrumental work, and composition.
Supporting Teaching and Learning (Wider Curriculum)
● Support pupils individually or in small groups to reinforce learning objectives set by the class
teacher.
● Assistin the delivery oflearning activities across the wider curriculum as directed.
● Help pupils to develop independence, confidence, and positive attitudes to learning.
● Provide targeted academic or pastoral support where required.
Classroom and Learning Environment
● Prepare, organise, and maintain musical instruments, equipment, and learning materials.
● Supportthe organisation of music spaces and contribute to a safe, stimulating, and inclusive
learning environment.
● Support behaviour managementin line with the school’s policies and expectations.
● Supervise pupils during lessons,transitions, and where required, during break or lunchtime.
Assessment and Feedback
● Monitor and assess pupil progress in music.
● Provide clearfeedback to pupils and share relevantinformation with class teachers.
● Contribute to whole-class assessmentthrough observation and recording.
● Supportthe implementation ofindividual support plans or intervention programmes where
appropriate.

Job Requirements

● Experience of working with children in a school or educational setting, preferably in a teaching
or instructional role.
● Strong subject knowledge in music and confidence in delivering practical music lessons (e.g.
singing, basic instrumental skills, rhythm, and composition).
● Ability to plan and deliver structured and engaging music lessons.
● A caring, patient, and flexible approach to working with children.
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
● Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and independently when leading learning.
● Commitmentto safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
