An Exciting Opportunity for ...

Officer, Contracts provides contractual and administrative support to Contracts & Procurement leadership and Procurement Officers across all stages of the contract lifecycle from tendering to post-award execution. Under senior guidance, the role assists with drafting standard agreements, clarifying terms, assessing risks, and facilitating negotiations. It ensures all documentation aligns with company interests, internal governance, statutory laws, and accepted oil and gas practices.

 

Key Accountabilities:

• Support the Procurement and Contracts Manager, Head of Procurements and Lead Contracts Officer by providing contractual assistance throughout the tendering, contract award, and post-award execution stages.

• Assist Procurement Officers in the preparation, review, and administration of contracts and Standard Forms of Contract and other documents related to the Procurement Function as necessary in accordance with Company policies, procedures, and approved contracting strategies.

• Provide contractual input and guidance to Contract Holders and Procurement Officers under supervision, including clarification of contract terms, risk allocation, and compliance requirements.

• Ensure contracts and contractual documents are aligned with Company interests, internal procedures, applicable laws and regulations, and acceptable oil and gas contracting practices.

• Support the maintenance and updating of contract templates, standard clauses, and Standard Forms of Contract to ensure consistency and completeness of contractual coverage.

• Ensure compliance with Company procurement and contracting processes throughout the contract lifecycle, including documentation, approvals, and record keeping.

• Coordinate and interface with Corporate Procurement and Legal Functions on contractual matters, deviations, and approvals as instructed by the Procurement and Contracts Manager, Head of Procurements and Lead Contracts Officer.

• Assist in identifying and addressing contractual issues and risks arising during tendering and contract execution and escalate complex or high-risk issues to senior team members as required.

• Participate and provide support in contractual negotiations with tenderers, contractors, and suppliers under the guidance of senior contract personnel.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline (Law, Business Administration, Engineering, or equivalent)

• 3–5 years’ experience in contracts, procurement, or a related function, preferably within the Oil and Gas or energy industry.

• Basic to good knowledge of:

  1. Contract law principles and commercial contracting, 
  2. International Oil and Gas contracting practice and standards, and
  3. Tendering, Negotiation and Contract administration

• Good analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

• Good computer skills, including MS Office applications.

• Good command of written and spoken English.

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
