Key Duties & Responsibilities

An ideal preschool teacher candidate is expected to fulfil certain important duties and responsibilities which may include:

• Assist in preparing materials and getting the classroom ready for lessons before each activity and clearing up afterwards so as to maintain a safe and clean environment.
• Actively participate in classroom activities, including singing, dancing, and engaging with the students.
• Assisting the class teacher in preparing the lesson materials.
• Support the class teacher in encouraging the students to follow the classroom routines. Always praise good behaviour and consistently demonstrate a positive role model to the students.
• Accompany, encourage, and assist students during meal times, helping them to eat independently.
• Build positive and trusting relationships with every student through kind care and sincere conversations.
• Communicate in English with students and colleagues at all times.
• Recording and reporting observations of the students to the class teacher as instructed.
• Looking after students who are unwell or upset.
• Report any accidents or incidents involving students to the class teacher promptly.
• Paying close attention at all times to make sure the students are learning in a healthy and safe environment.

A successful preschool teacher candidate will have various prerequisite dispositions, skills and qualifications needed to do the job well, these include:

• Proficient in English (both spoken and written).
• Caring and passionate about working with young children.
• Honest, willing to learn new things and take up challenges.
• Energetic, cheerful, and willing to help everyone.
• Strong communication skills and enjoy working as part of a team.
• Able to manage own emotions, always take ownership and responsibility for given tasks.
