Responsibilities 

Technical

• Develops trial protocols in accordance with established procedures and as directed by Marketing and Product Management.
• Has a strong knowledge of crop segments and develops effective trials in each segment with new varieties as provided by the Product Manager.
• Evaluates trials using standard procedures and assessment techniques.
• Maintains an impartial view of variety performance
• Is responsible to analyse data and report to the Management team at the Bi annual PAM meetings.
• Provides comments and descriptions as to the strengths and weaknesses of varieties under trial and how they compare with internal and external checks.
• Also provides comments on any special or unique agronomic inputs that specific varieties may require.
• Maintains a complete history of trials across all regions and takes responsibility to combine data and to draw subsequent conclusion on variety performance.
• Acts are the central depository for trial data.

Marketing

• Be responsible to present clear analysis of variety performance at bi annual PAM meetings to enable decision to be made on promotion or rejection of varieties.
• Provide data and feed back to the Product manager on market data to support setting of priorities and objectives.
• Be aware of competitor activity and to provide timely feedback on same to the Product Manager and marketing teams.

Critical Knowledge:

• Bachelor Degree in Agriculture – or equivalent experience or training
• Good knowledge of the vegetables seeds industry.
• Experience in the seed industry is required. Experience in variety trials a distinct advantage.

Critical Skills:

• Able to work independently and take responsibility to implement trials on time and in accordance with company objectives.
• Ability to build and maintain effective management processes including effective management of a team of trials officers.
• Must be organised and able to manage and interpret large amounts of trial data.
• Must have statistical analysis experience to analyse trial data.
• Good communication and presentation skills
