The Factory M&E Manager is responsible for overseeing all Mechanical and Electrical systems within the factory, ensuring smooth operation, preventive maintenance, and installation of new machinery and utility systems. This role ensures maximum equipment uptime, energy efficiency, safety compliance, and continuous improvement of plant infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
1. Maintenance Management (Preventive & Corrective)
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all mechanical and electrical equipment
Ensure timely repair and troubleshooting of machinery breakdowns
Minimize production downtime through efficient maintenance planning
Monitor equipment performance and implement reliability improvements
2. Installation & Commissioning
Manage installation of new machinery, production lines, and utility systems
Oversee commissioning of electrical panels, motors, conveyors, compressors, boilers, and HVAC systems
Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and OEM engineers during installation
Ensure proper testing and handover of new equipment to production teams
3. Electrical & Mechanical System Management
Supervise factory electrical systems including power distribution, transformers, switchgear, and control panels
Manage mechanical systems such as conveyors, pumps, compressors, boilers, and production machinery
Ensure stable utility supply (electricity, air, steam, water) for production continuity
Maintain updated technical drawings and system documentation
4. Energy Management & Efficiency
Monitor and optimize energy consumption across the factory
Implement energy-saving initiatives and cost reduction programs
Track power usage, fuel consumption, and utility efficiency KPIs
Recommend upgrades for energy-efficient systems and equipment
5. Safety & Compliance
Ensure all M&E systems comply with factory safety standards and regulations
Implement lockout/tagout (LOTO) procedures and electrical safety protocols
Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments
Ensure compliance with fire safety, electrical safety, and industrial safety standards
6. Spare Parts & Inventory Management
Manage spare parts inventory for critical mechanical and electrical components
Ensure availability of essential spare parts to avoid production downtime
Coordinate procurement of M&E equipment and consumables
Maintain cost control over maintenance budgets and spare parts usage
7. Team Leadership & Development
Lead and supervise maintenance engineers, electricians, and mechanical technicians
Assign daily tasks, shift duties, and emergency response teams
Provide technical training and skill development for maintenance staff
Build a strong maintenance team culture focused on reliability and efficiency
8. Project & Expansion Support
Support factory expansion projects, new line installations, and facility upgrades
Work closely with project engineers, contractors, and consultants
Ensure timely completion of installation projects within budget
Provide technical input for factory layout and machinery planning
9. Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis
Investigate recurring breakdowns and identify root causes
Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
Use maintenance data to improve system reliability
Maintain maintenance logs and reporting systems
10. Reporting & Documentation
Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports
Track equipment downtime, maintenance cost, and efficiency KPIs
Maintain technical documentation, manuals, and service records
Report critical issues to Factory Manager / Operations Head
