The firm seeks an experienced and highly motivated legal editor to assist our team for corporate, commercial, and intellectual property work. This role will base full-time in Yangon.
Key Responsibilities:
• Reviewing, revising, and rewriting documents in order to ensure clarity, accuracy, consistency, and comprehensiveness, with a focus on both content and style. Such documents include, but not limited to, client correspondence, legal opinions and advice, and marketing materials (articles, presentations, etc.).
• Providing consultation, guidance, and recommendations to colleagues regarding to interpreting language and meaning, managing client expectations, and addressing a wide variety of sensitive issues.
• Working closely with lawyers in drafting/editing articles and improving them to the level necessary for publication.
• Conducting research in order to (i) confirm accuracy of information, (ii) contribute new information and drafting of complex reports and memoranda as required. Summarize or expand upon various pieces of writing for use in different contexts.
• Reviewing, analyzing, and providing recommendations on overall aspects of communications, including style, presentation, strength of opinions/recommendations, and general approach. Implementing writing and style guidelines and standard as determined by the firm.
• Monitoring an article-writing process, following up with concerned parties to ensure the work is completed in a timely manner, and editing the work within the scheduled.
• Performing other essential duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
• Bachelor Degree or higher in any related field, preferably in Law
• Native English speaker with excellent writing, editing, researching, and communication skills
• Prior experience in editing/proofreading legal documents would be advantageous
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Highly detail-oriented, self-motivated, and strong commitment to client service
• Good collaborative approach with colleagues
• Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints
