The Opportunity

The role will be responsible for legal review, advice, identification, management, resolution, and control of compliance-related issues referring to legal and regulatory requirements and company policies at corporate, regional, and local levels. He or she reports to the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Chief Legal & Compliance Officer in his role, setting up and maintaining a functional and effective Legal Department function to support Manulife Myanmar Life insurance business
• Carry out research and provide translation, interpretation and advice relating to applicable regulatory changes and updates
• Review new and existing business opportunities and activities to ensure that legal and regulatory risks are identified and proper controls are established within the business
• Contract management, including record-keeping
• Assist Board Meeting & Statutory/Regulatory Audit, including on-site inspection
• Arrange & Organize all the regulatory on-site meetings
• Submit all the regulatory reports
• Preserve a congenial working environment with the team and with business colleagues
• Analyze, identify and address legal risk issues across the Company’s areas of business;
• Maintain an active, up-to-date knowledge of changes in the regulatory regime as it apply to company’s business and corporate legal status and implement any legal changes as they apply to the business (Regulatory development);
• Communicate with governmental entities and law firms for corporate affair realization;

What We Are Looking For

• A bachelor’s degree holder, preferable in Law
• Lawyer licensing will be advantageous
• At least 2/3 or more years of related experience in insurance, financial industry, law firm and other related industries are required
