Job Description

A Great Opportunity for ...

  • Ensure full compliance with all Operational and Maintenance procedures for corrosion management on offshore structures and steel outfitting (handrails, gratings, ladders, access platforms, pipe/E&I supports, etc.).
  • Lead and develop corrosion control strategies for onshore/offshore structures in line with Company Maintenance Strategies and Integrity Management procedures.
  • Plan, prioritize, and execute regular structural corrosion inspection programs (visual inspection, NDT inspection, anomaly coding/close-out) and support risk-based inspection (RBI) updates.
  • Define scopes of work for coating repair, steel renewal, wrapping, CUI mitigation, and small-scale fabric maintenance; develop cost-effective plans that minimize downtime and improve asset reliability.
  • Prepare technical specifications and method statements for blasting & painting, surface preparation, coating application, inspection/QAQC (DFT, adhesion, chloride, profile, holiday testing), and acceptance criteria.
  • Evaluate materials and systems and provide sound recommendations on material selection and life-cycle cost.
  • Review contractor proposals, participate in technical clarifications and bid evaluations, and support contract strategy for fabric maintenance.
  • Supervise and quality-assure site execution by contractors; verify qualifications/certifications of applicators and inspectors; witness hold points and sign-off work packs.
  • Coordinate safely with Operations, Maintenance, HSE and Marine for access (scaffolding/rope-access), SIMOPS, permits, and isolation; champion hazard identification and safe work practices.
  • Conduct and lead root-cause corrosion failure analyses and lessons-learned; develop corrective and preventive actions and update Company standards where required.
  • Maintain accurate records in CMMS (SAP) and Integrity Systems; ensure timely work order creation, close-out and evidence filing (reports, photos, test results).
  • Monitor budgets, forecasts and progress KPIs for corrosion programs; prepare monthly status reports and annual work plans.
  • Support offshore and vendor audits; ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers/inspectors and promote a strong integrity culture across the team.
  • Travel offshore and, when required, domestically/overseas for surveys, supervision, or vendor meetings.
  • Comply with Company Code of Ethics and all policies and procedures.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in corrosion engineering or structural fabric maintenance in the oil & gas industry (topsides preferred).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Materials/Metallurgy/Mechanical/Structural/Corrosion Engineering (or equivalent discipline).
  • Offshore survival and medical certificates (e.g., BOSIET/OGUK or equivalent) — or ability to obtain prior to mobilization.
  • Strong practical knowledge of corrosion mechanisms affecting carbon steel in marine environments (CUI, under-insulation corrosion, crevice/galvanic, atmospheric/immersion) and effective mitigation/monitoring methods.
  • Proven experience planning and delivering coating/blasting campaigns and minor steel repair on handrails, gratings, ladders, access platforms, and support steelwork.
  • Proficient with QA/QC of coating works and inspection instruments (DFT gauges, surface profile comparators, salt/chloride tests, adhesion testers, holiday detectors).
  • Familiarity with relevant standards: AMPP/NACE (e.g., coating/inspection practices), ISO 12944 & ISO 8501/2/3, SSPC standards; knowledge of API/DNV offshore guidance is an advantage.
  • Working knowledge of RBI/anomaly management processes and integration with CMMS (SAP) and integrity software.
  • Ability to produce clear SOWs, method statements, cost estimates, and progress reports; strong contractor oversight and interface skills.
  • Good command of English (verbal and written); competent in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and leadership skills with a proactive, safety-first mindset.
