Job Title: IT System Engineer – Infrastructure and System Administrator

Description – summary of duties
The IT System Engineer’s (infrastructure and System Administrator) role is to facilitate and provide technical support throughout the school, across both locations, to ensure the service stability, integrity, and efficient operation of the in-house systems that support core academic and administrative functions.
This is achieved by monitoring, maintaining, supporting, troubleshooting and resolving incidents and requests from end users, and undertaking specific maintenance and upgrade tasks on the computer network and system administration.
Overview of Responsibilities:
The IT System Engineer is responsible for the following areas:
System & Servers Asset management
- Work with IT Manager to define system requirements and goals, identify and resolve system issues and risks.
- Monitor and test system performance, provide system statistics and reports.
- Establish milestones for necessary contributions from departments and develop processes to facilitate their collaboration.
- Evaluate the existing systems and provide the technical direction to IT support staff.
- Oversee the development of customized software and hardware requirement.
- Plan and implement systems automation as required for better efficiency.
Applications and Platforms
The IT system engineer is required to have a basic level experience of the following:
- VMware, Windows servers, Linux, AD, Exchange, SharePoint, mail gateway and antivirus, MAC OS and IOS, Windows OS.
Client Support
- Utilise and maintain the helpdesk ticketing system, monitor and respond quickly and effectively to the requests from helpdesk.
- Provide 1st and 2nd system level support and resolve problems to the end user’s satisfaction.
- Work under guidance to provide an effective IT support service for all school users which include PC, Apple Mac, laptop hardware and software installation and maintenance, networked printers and multifunctional devices, scanners,
- VoIP telephones, network equipment.
Others
- Adhere to company policies and protocols.
- Other tasks and responsibilities assigned by the Director of Business Administration, and IT Manager.
- Have a detailed knowledge of the school’s Philosophy and Objectives statement and an understanding of how these principles are translated into practice in order to influence the ethos and decision-making process in the school.
- To have read regularly and be aware fully of the Group safeguarding framework and DCY safeguarding policy; be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all the students in your care.
- Have a flexible approach to working which may well include Saturdays/Sundays and out of hours evening work at busy times of the school operational year
