Job Purpose:

We are looking for a Digital and VAS Manager who plays a crucial role in managing successful delivery, operation, and evolution of value-added services that enrich the telecommunications offerings and meet the evolving needs of customers in a competitive telecommunication market landscape.

 

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Engages with Business and IT stakeholders as a Digital and VAS delivery/project manager.
  • Lead and execute business or functional initiatives, projects, and deliverables.
  • Work closely with Business to gather requirements and translate for the squad to deliver and implement.
  • Translate technical requirements into system, application, and process designs identifying functional requirements and lead the product deliveries.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement Digital and VAS solutions that align with business requirements and industry best practices. This involves assessing technical feasibility, architecting scalable solutions, and evaluating emerging technologies for potential integration.
  • Manage deliverables supported by internal teams, partners, and suppliers.
  • Managing the integration of VAS platforms with core network elements, billing systems, customer relationship management (CRM) systems, and third-party applications. Ensuring seamless interoperability and data exchange between different systems to deliver a unified customer experience.
  • Lead and planned IT projects where applicable and involved in SIT and UAT.
  • Maintaining comprehensive documentation, technical specifications, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Digital and VAS platforms and services. Facilitating knowledge sharing and training sessions to empower team members and stakeholders with the necessary skills and expertise.
  • Monitor the system performance and handle application incidents where applicable.
  • Overseeing the operation, maintenance, and optimization of Digital and VAS platforms such as SMS, MMS, USSD, SDP, IVR, content delivery platforms, and other value-added services. This includes ensuring high availability, scalability, and reliability of VAS systems to meet customer demand and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Manages to run the weekly and monthly governance meetings with vendors and prepare SLA and KPI reports.

Functional competencies:

  • In-depth knowledge of telecommunications technologies, networks, and systems is crucial.
  • Understanding of mobile networks (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G), protocols (e.g., SIP, SS7).
  • Proficiency in managing VAS platforms such as SMS, MMS, USSD, IVR, OBD, SDP, content delivery platforms, and other value-added services.
  • Understand the technical architecture, functionalities, and integration with core network elements. Familiarity with network protocols and standards relevant to VAS, including TCP/IP, HTTP, SMPP, Diameter, MAP, etc. Knowledge of signaling protocols and their interactions within the telecommunications network.
  • Understanding of software development methodologies, programming languages (e.g., Java, Python, C++), and scripting languages (e.g., Shell scripting) for customization, integration, and development of VAS applications.
  • Conceptualize, design, and monitor procedures to manage all Digital and VAS platforms.
  • Experience in managing relationships with vendors, including selection, negotiation, contract management, and performance monitoring. This involves evaluating vendor solutions, conducting feasibility studies, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve technical issues related to Digital and VAS platforms, applications, and integrations. Familiarity with diagnostic tools and techniques is essential for efficient problem-solving.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or Kanban to effectively plan, execute, and deliver projects on time and within budget. Strong organizational and time-management skills are essential.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s in Computer Science or Technology.
  • 5 + years’ experience in the project delivery and operations of Telecom Digital/VAS.
  • Good understanding on signaling and Core Network integration, SMS and Voice.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Understanding of ITIL processes.
  • Ability to manage large scales projects, develop and improve processes.
  • Ability to resolve problems in high stress, high visibility situations.
  • Strong business understanding and negotiation skills with ability to make rapid disciplined decisions from both technology and business perspective.
  • Deliver all IT platform requirements and associated eco-system to meet current and future business requirements.
  • Supporting deployment, product change and go-live activities success (this will involve regular participation in non-business hours operation).
  • Strong analytical capabilities with critical thinking, problem solving, and project management skills.
