Management of Nurse provision

• Ensure that duties are covered by the nursing staff in the medical rooms and that nursing provision is provided where necessary for offsite activities and special events
• Ensure that Nurse Aids are providing appropriate medical care to students and staff
• Coordinate appropriate training for Nurse Aids to ensure that they have an up to date knowledge of medical care and First Aid training.
• Ensure that all visits to the medical rooms are reported on Engage and that any treatment and contact with home is recorded on the school management system
• Ensure that parental consent is given before any treatment is administered.
• Ensure that an accurate list of all students with medical conditions is kept and shared with staff as appropriate.
• Manage all medical emergencies where students or staff need to be transferred for further care or treatment to hospital/doctor etc.
• Maintain confidential health records for all members of of staff as directed

Health Education Support

• Support the Senior Leaders in managing outbreaks, epidemics and emergencies.
• Provide health education to parents to meet the needs of the community
• Support health education to students to meet the needs of the community.
• Offer health advice to staff as requested.
• Liaise with outside organisations and manage health initiatives which impact on the school (eg. vaccination programmes)
• Advise the Senior Leadership Team on any health concerns arising in the local area.

Equipment

• Ensure that the medical rooms are stocked with appropriate medicines and equipment at all times.
• Maintain a written record of all medicines and equipment, including expiry dates.
• Ensure that all First Aid kits on site are regularly checked for stock and replenished where necessary.

• Recognised nursing qualification at degree level.
• Current First Aid Certificate
• Other qualifications relating to the field of nursing (desired)
• Experience of working in a hospital environment.
• Experience of working with children (desired)
• A competent level of English
• A competent level of Myanmar
• The ability to respond to and manage a range of incidents and accidents which might occur in a school setting
• The ability to communicate sensitively with children and parents
• People skills which will allow effective working with staff, parents and children.
• The ability to present health information to individuals and groups of people
• Sound computer skills which will allow effective administrative procedures and information to be maintained on health matters relating to students.
