Job Description

The role holder is responsible to systematically manage, monitor and control the credit risk arising from the Bank’s day-to-day business activities. The role holder is also responsible for checking and appraisal on credit application by customers. The role holder is responsible for pointing out risk assessment and contacting the RM & Branch credit committee member (RM Uncovered) who is responsible for the case to resolve outstanding matters and for clarification. Moreover, the job holder is responsible for advising by their comments and recommendation to approval authorizers.

  • Evaluate SME credit applications and contribute constructive suggestions in accordance with existing policy, criteria, instructions and new approval matrix by MCC.
  • Review the evaluation which is done by SME Credit Analysts
  • Responsible for the appraisal of credit applications from the branches in the region
  • Drive quality and efficiency of the credit analysts.
  • Identify credit risk and risk mitigation measures on each application.
  • Liaise with SME Business team & branches for clarification.
  • If needed, conduct onsite visit to Customer’s Business Premises with related RMs, but hardly ever.
  • Conduct Credit Underwriting & risk assessment Training for RMs, VRMs and CROs at the branches on ad hoc basis under the guidance of the Head, SME Credit Risk.
  • Assist the Head, SME Credit Risk to develop and implement the Credit Scoring Methodology.
  • Assist on the development of Structured Credit Risk Solution on existing & new credit products presented by as per customer business needs.
  • Carry out Policy Lending Credit facilities such as JICA 2 Step Loans.
  • Carry out verification, validation and authentication of information and documents provided by the Relationship Manager and the customer to ensure that the facts are accurate, reliable and true.
  • Liaise closely with the Value Centre General Managers of all Value Centres of the Bank, irrespective of whether they are lending units or otherwise, to fully understand their operations and how they impact on credit functions.
  • Liaise closely with the Bank's in-house Legal and Compliance Team to fully understand the legal aspects impacting on the extension of credit and securing documentation.
  • Assist the Head, SME Credit Risk Function in implementing the Early Alert process for monitoring and tracking of credit exposures.
  • Contribute to the Credit Function Library with Industry Studies relevant to the Business Value Centres.
  • Implement any other duties assigned by the Head, SME Credit Risk Function.
  • Provide support to the VCGMs and other Function Heads to facilitate and drive KBZ’s strategy of achieving nation-wide financial inclusion.

Job Requirements

  • At least 5 years of working experience in banking or business field (priority SME Lending experienced manager)
  • Credit officer experience In Internal Branch operation (priority)
  • English Language (Reading & Writing)
  • Be able to work under pressure with minimum supervision
  • Must have experience in banking &finance
  • Prefer Master’s Degree graduate.
  • Must have great reporting skills
  • IT skills are also beneficial.
  • Work overtime if needed.
