At the heart of it, education and training is the process of facilitating the sharing of knowledge in order to allow people to learn. The job of those in education and training is to use different methods to instruct people on an array of subjects and help them acquire skills, values, knowledge, beliefs and habits. Like other industries in Myanmar, there have apparently been positive reforms, one of which is allowing for foreign investment and collaboration with foreign universities. There also seems to be an increasing number of international schools, which benefits not only expatriates, but also local students who get to learn the English language at the same time.
Acquiring a job in education and training is dependant on what you are seeking. To get a job as a school teacher at any level a degree is normally required. To obtain a job as an English teacher, an internationally recognised qualification such as TEFL is highly beneficial. However, in many cases a little experience such as volunteer work will suffice, especially in rural areas. Corporate training is often a function of human resources, and on the job training is often undertaken by colleagues and shift managers.
Regardless of what is actually being taught, to whom and at what level, it is always imperative that those in education and training have excellent communication skills, a willingness to interact and effective teaching systems that motivate their students.
