Job Description

Reporting line: Reports directly to the Group Marketing Director

Strategic purpose of the position: Support the growth ambition of EAC by Co-developing and leading the strategic framework and
action plans for a category, to deliver sustainable market share growth, long term brand equity
development, and overall Category profitability
✓ Deliver on KPIs relating to brand health and equity, for the purpose of driving sales growth
and brands’ share targets
✓ Lead co-development of the Category Vision, architecture, and long-term growth strategy
✓ Develop and coordinate annual category plans, leading excellent cross functional
interactions to drive execution on the ground.
✓ Analyze consumer insight and competitor movements to help define growth platforms for
innovation and category development
✓ Drive an Integrated Marketing Communication Plan for the Category with key Agency
partners, and ensure consistency and cohesiveness of relevant materials in line with the
Brand VIS for multi-channel use
✓ Actively contributing and transforming knowledge and insights into the strategy and
ensuring strategies support the category growth ambition including liaising with the
Knowledge and Insights Manager
✓ Brief and progress innovation projects cross-functionally in line with the overall Category
ambition, spearheading buy-in within the S&OP and Stages Gates/IPM of EAC
✓ Co-management of the monthly performance meetings of the Category with the
Trade/Channel Marketing Manager in order to operationalize current plans and plan within a
rolling F3/R6 horizon.
✓ Manage Marketing interface for S&OP
✓ Brand budget planning, monitoring, and management for the relevant portfolio
✓ Manage key relations with ATL, Digital, and Event agencies, and key internal stakeholders
within EAC
✓ Coach and develop a Brand Manager or an Assistant Brand Manager

Internal: EAC Senior Management Team, Marketing and Channel/Trade Marketing Team, cross
functional department heads in supply chain & finance
External: Agencies, priority customers including distributors in critical areas for key projects

Job Requirements

Education: Minimum Bachelor Degree ideally in business administration, major in
Marketing or Bachelor of Arts with a major in Communications
Age: 28 - 35 years
Language: Fluent in English
Experience:
• Minimum 7+ years of experience in a managerial role in Marketing and/or Trade
Marketing for FMCG products in an emerging economy
• In-depth knowledge about relevant Brand subject areas and commercial experience in
at least two Brands with focus on: portfolio development, communication &
promotions planning, in-market execution
• Relevant experience of at least 18 months in category thinking and strategic planning
• Cross functional experience in trade marketing and sales will be favourable
IT Skills: High level of proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, project management software ia
a bonus
General: A solid track record of producing outstanding results
