To support the Head of Legal and Compliance in managing and overseeing all legal, regulatory, and compliance-related matters of the company. This role ensures that the company conducts its business in full compliance with applicable laws and regulations of Myanmar, particularly those governed by the Financial Regulatory Department (FRD), Myanmar Insurance Business Law, directives from the Ministry of Planning and Finance and other relevant authority in Myanmar.

Key Responsibilities:

Legal Functions:

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, policies, and other legal documents including MOUs, service agreements, and product terms.
• Provide legal advisory to senior management on corporate, commercial, and regulatory matters.
• Support litigation management and liaise with external counsel when necessary.
• Assist with legal due diligence, corporate governance, and board meeting preparation.
• Maintain a proper database of legal records, policies, and precedents.

Compliance Functions:

• Implement and monitor internal compliance frameworks in accordance with local insurance regulations and international standards (AML/CFT, ABC equivalents, etc.).
• Conduct compliance risk assessments, gap analyses, and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
• Lead periodic internal audits and assist with external audits and inspections from regulators (e.g. FRD).
• Ensure timely submission of statutory reports and compliance filings.
• Stay updated on changes in laws and regulations relevant to the insurance sector and provide timely advice to management.

Team Management & Coordination:

• Supervise and mentor junior legal and compliance officers.
• Support training and awareness programs for staff on legal and compliance topics.
• Collaborate with other departments to ensure compliance is integrated into daily operation

• Bachelor's Degree in Law (LL.B.) required; Master’s Degree or international law qualifications preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in legal and compliance roles, preferably within the insurance or financial services sector.
• Solid understanding of Myanmar legal framework, especially insurance, corporate, and financial regulations.
• Experience dealing with regulatory bodies such as FRD, Tax Authority and Central Bank of Myanmar is a plus.
• Proficiency in English and Myanmar languages (both written and spoken).
