The Head of Finance – Retail is responsible for leading the financial strategy, planning, reporting, and control functions of the retail business. This role ensures strong financial discipline, profitability improvement, cash flow management, and compliance across all retail operations, including stores, supply chain, and distribution networks.
Key Responsibilities

Financial Strategy & Planning

Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with retail business growth plans
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning Support expansion planning for new retail outlets and markets
2. Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Ensure accuracy of P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
- Analyze retail performance by store, product category, and region
3. Cost & Profitability Control
- Monitor gross margin, operating expenses, and store-level profitability
- Implement cost optimization strategies across retail operations
- Identify underperforming stores and recommend corrective actions
4. Cash Flow & Working Capital Management
- Manage cash flow to ensure liquidity across retail operations
- Optimize inventory financing and supplier payment terms
- Control stock holding costs and improve inventory turnover
5. Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations, accounting standards, and audit requirements
- Establish strong internal control systems across retail finance operations
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors
6. Retail Business Support
- Provide financial insights for pricing, promotions, and product mix decisions
- Partner with operations and sales teams to improve store performance
- Support expansion strategy with financial feasibility studies
7. Team Leadership
- Lead and develop finance teams across retail divisions
- Build strong capability in retail accounting, MIS, and analytics
- Set KPIs and performance standards for finance staff
