Job Description

  • Ensure a Quality & Food Safety management system is in place and implemented in the factory & products and processes comply with the relevant requirements of the quality management system.
  • Oversee the daily operations of the laboratory, ensuring all procedures and activities comply with safety regulations and quality standards.
  • Manage laboratory staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, and conducting performance evaluations to ensure a competent and motivated team.
  • Implement and maintain quality control and assurance programs to meet internal and external requirements and improve laboratory efficiency.
  • Coordinate with other departments, such as research and development, production, and quality assurance, to align laboratory activities with organizational goals.
  • Develop and manage the laboratory budget, including procurement of equipment and supplies, to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in laboratory processes and equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and disruption to operations.
  • Review and approve laboratory reports and documentation, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Ensure the proper calibration, maintenance, and operation of lab equipment and instruments.
  • Monitor adherence to laboratory protocols and safety standards.
  • Analyze test results, document findings, and communicate deviations to the production team for corrective actions.
  • Conduct and oversee tests on raw materials, in-process products, and finished goods to verify quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all laboratory activities, test results, and certifications.
  • Prepare and submit quality reports to the HOD.
  • Collaborate with production and quality teams to identify opportunities for quality improvement.
  • Assists the QA Assistant Manager in the preparation for all types of audits (Internal + External) and Leads the product and process audits of manufacturing operations.
  • Ensure all areas under the Quality Department are in excellent housekeeping order and well organized.
  • Coach and mentor junior employees; seek opportunities to grow leadership in others.
  • Apply relevant tools such as Lean Manufacturing to improve the efficiency of manufacturing operations, specifically in areas involving quality functions. Drive towards closure with continual improvement activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, and Kaizen.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and FSMS ISO 22000 standards for Quality and Food Safety Systems.
  • Other activities as deemed fit to support overall Quality Excellence programs.

Job Requirements

  • B.Sc (Chemistry or Industrial Chemistry) or equivalent years of experience in packaging Industry, Food, Phama, Beverage Industry. 
  • knowledge of statistical process control, glass container specifications, plastic, cartons and closure operations.
  • Ability to communicate in technical and management terms.
  • At least 5 years of Quality Assurance experience, especially in the Glass/Carton/Cans industry.
  • Having knowledge of ISO 9001 & Food Safety, ISO 17025 is required for this position. Having ISO 17025 will be in added advantage.
  • Proficiency in English, software including Microsoft Office.
  • Follow the Company’s Rules and Regulations at the factory premises.
  • A Team Player with a Positive Approach and Can-Do Attitude.
