We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Legal and Compliance Officer to implement the Compliance & Legal Affairs function at Myanmar Metro Bank. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the bank's compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as managing the legal aspects of the bank's operations. You will play a critical role in overseeing anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorism financing (CFT) policies, managing fraud prevention, and maintaining professional relationships with regulatory bodies. Additionally, you will be responsible for overseeing litigation cases, contract review and negotiation, and providing legal support to various departments within the bank.

Key Responsibilities:

Compliance Management

• Monitor legislative and regulatory activities and recommend policy implementation to support organizational goals.
• Ensure effective implementation of AML, CFT, and fraud prevention policies throughout the bank.
• Build and maintain professional relationships with government entities, including the Central Bank of Myanmar.

Contract Review and Legal Support

• Assist in reviewing agreements before execution and ensure their accuracy and compliance.
• Update terms and conditions based on given facts for contracts.
• Ensure accurate and well-maintained contract documents.
• Advise and support the credit risk department regarding the authenticity of contracts and other legal documents.
• Draft, review, and negotiate legal documents related to the bank's day-to-day operations, including finance and security documents, commercial contracts, and non-disclosure agreements.
• Oversee the bank's litigation cases and processes.

Training and Compliance Education

• Implement training programs on legal and compliances issues for bank employees, ensuring their understanding of compliance requirements and best practices around AML/CFT and relevant legal issues.

• Bachelor's degree in Law, Business, or a related field. A master's degree or professional qualification in law is preferred.
• Extensive experience (3+ years) in compliance management and legal affairs within the banking industry in Myanmar.
• In-depth knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements, including AML, CFT, and fraud prevention.
• Strong understanding of contract law and contract review/negotiation processes.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
• Ability to build and maintain professional relationships with government entities.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Experience in overseeing litigation cases is preferred.
• Ability to provide legal support and advice across various departments.
• Experience in developing and delivering compliance training programs.
