Business Context and Main Purpose of the Job

• Business partnering and provision of in-house legal services and advice to internal clients.                      
• Assist in supervision of external legal service providers, including external legal counsels and Corporate Secretary.
• Role covers assisting General Counsel in providing legal support functions for country operations in Myanmar, as well as any other Unilever entities in Myanmar as formed / required from time to time.
• Perform any other legal or administrative tasks as assigned or directed by General Counsel or Business Partners.

Main Accountabilities

• Delivers world class legal support to enable business growth in Myanmar while ensuring efficiency of operations
• Proactively engages and established effective government relationships with key authorities including MIC, Ministry of Commerce and other governmental authorities
• Provide advice on all aspects of the laws to the business including commercial contracts in related of distribution, manufacturing, marketing development related support activities, general legal advice on company law, IP laws, anti-corruption, counterfeiting, competition, labour law, etc.)
• Identifies legal risks and helps the business navigate them, providing creative but legally compliant solutions that deliver a competitive advantage to the business in Myanmar.
• Provides strategy and delivers on execution of Brand protection initiatives in MCL
• Supports General Counsel on good governance and support to ensure compliance with applicable laws as well as Unilever’s Code of Business Principles and Code Policies in Myanmar.
• Liaise with company secretary, organize board meetings, minutes and filings of company secretarial documents, support in the administration of license application at related City Development Council, Ministry of Industry, any respective industrial approval requirements.
• To ensure that the Group complies with all, internal policies, local regulatory and reporting requirements and to assist the business in investor relation issues.
• Conduct research on relevant laws, regulations, and legal article.
• Instrumental in assisting to deploy the global / regional/ local policy and standards to the local business entity.
• Work closely with General Counsel to develop and implement simplified and effective ways of working within the legal department (including developing and refreshing templates and precedents) and business partnering with the business.
• Timely turnaround in vetting of drafting legal documents and contracts and responding to clients. Ability to priorities work and severity/importance of matters is crucial.

Main Responsibilities

• Solid legal experience gained through legal firms and/or corporate entities, at least 5 to 8 years (Prefer talents who have gained experiences in FMCG industry)
• Proven knowledge and experience in commercial law and a good understanding and working knowledge of corporate law, competition law, intellectual property law, privacy laws, advertising and media law, Myanmar Investment laws and regulations as well as basic understanding of company secretarial roles and supportive dealing with DICA and MIC.
• Ability to work independently and also as a team with other cluster, regional and global lawyers.
• Able to converse, write and draft fluently in English and Myanmar.
• Able to travel occasionally depends on business requirement.
