This position is responsible to establishing product formulations that conform to product design requirements such as sensory characteristics, margins, intended market, product nutritional or health claims. Conducts laboratory and plant trials of formula, Qualifies raw materials and flavors prior to use in the formula. Establishes RM / PM / Products / Process control parameters. R&D Supervisor evaluates the readiness of new production lines to go into commercial production. Assists in product and production line troubleshooting and recommends appropriate actions. R&D Supervisor authors all Standard Operating Procedures related to the product and process design.

II.    DUTIES, RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITIES

• Assists the function of Asst. QA/RD Manager, QA/RD Manager for Research and Development matter.
• Supervises the execution of R&D Scientist to ensure conformance of Research and Development concerned.
• Develop New and Existing products and processes that conform to defined product concepts, sensory characteristics, nutritional value and other requirements within the target timeline.
• Supervise plant trial / initial production run of New product. Provide technical guidance in the formulation of New products for lab scale batch and plant trials.
• Update Food Laws / Regulations concerned.
• Evaluate food processing and storage conditions, and assist in the development of quality assurance programs for such operations.
• Identify and implement quality and profit improvement projects. Measure effectiveness in improving quality and product cost or efficiency of production.
• Complete documentation of Raw material, Packaging, Product and Process SOPs, troubleshooting guide, Work instructions for production, SAP. Monitor product quality and line performance.
• Identifies alternative supplier and raw material evaluation, revalidation through testing and/or product application.
• Technical assistance to factory and regional affiliates through quality and process troubleshooting;
• Assist in line/equipment commissioning and resolve potential issues. Render assistance during regular production run of new products to ensure compliance with SOP’s.
• Provides training to Quality Assurance and Manufacturing on the production of New products.
• Responsible for other duties and responsibilities as specified in the QMS.
• Performs any other duty that may be assigned as necessary.
• Responds to all Quality & Food Safety Management and Management System such as GMP, HACCP

• College graduate with a degree in BS Chemical Engineering, Food Science, Food Technology or Chemistry. Preferably licensed Chemical Engineer
• At least 3 years relevant work experience as a product development Scientist or similar position for a food manufacturing company; has handled at least one product/segment
• Trained or actual experience in project management
