Let’s face it, finding a job nowadays is pretty tough especially since there’s plenty of competition. And these people aren’t just rivals; they’re all exemplary in their own stand. Your best bet to ace that interview to land you that specific job you want is to whip up an incredible résumé.

Surely at this moment, you’ve made it clear to yourself in order to impress people you’ve to prove to them how well-rounded you are as an individual. Aspire to be above average in a sea of average applicants. Your résumé should look the look and talk the talk for it is the first thing read by your employer. What you put in your résumé content will have a very big impact on how you’ll impress them. To make them shiver with delight because of your amazing feats, here are a few things you can add to beef up your résumé:

Include Volunteer Work and Independent Projects

Diversity is well-loved by many nowadays. If you have no professional experience yet, it is best to work on other things in order to get you on the track. Volunteer at your local charity and detail your responsibilities in your employment history. Do you have projects you’ve created on your own or with a group of people? Put this in résumé as well to let employers know you may not be employed in the past, but at least you’ve done something relevant that will help them see a clear picture of what you are and capable of as a person. Don’t forget to include your internship as this can also help you out.

Start a Blog or Maintain Your Blog

One of the wonders this era has shown is how well we can build up our identity and has the world see it. Having a blog is a great way to showcase your interests, knowledge, and involvement in your field. If you don’t have a blog yet, make your own immediately. If you already have your blog then good for you! Make sure you update often and keep it well running. Some employers would prefer to delve deeper at their applicants, therefore, they would want something tangible or something they can see for themselves. If they read your blog about your passion, hobbies and the likes, they’ll immediately know the type of person you are.

Expand Your Skills

You don’t have to go crazy and overboard in the skills section of your résumé by including mundane skills such as public speaking, computer literacy and etc. When it comes to skills, having evidence is key as well. If you’ve written down you’re good in sketching, then include some of your past work to back up your claim. Depending on the profession you are partaking, list down necessary and appropriate skills are relevant to the job you are aiming for.

You never want to seem like you’re intentionally padding your résumé, but having a well-rounded CV will usually win over a skinny and skimpy one. There are plenty of ways to make you look marketable to the eyes of your employers; be sure you can execute them properly in your résumé in order for you to get that dream job you want.
