The most anticipated recruitment event in Yangon on Saturday 23rd March 2019 was JobNation, Myanmar’s Biggest Career Fair presented by JobNet.com.mm. Held at Novotel Yangon Max, the event saw a peak of over 12500 professionals attending the event.
Launched in 2016, JobNation became a biannual event. Mr. Matt De Luca, Managing Director of JobNet.com.mm said: “We notice a clear improvement in the quality of professionals attending our events. While our core business is the online recruitment platform, a few times a year we bring to life the biggest career fairs in Myanmar in order to provide companies and professionals a much more engaging opportunity to meet. Not often do professionals have the opportunity to meet the recruiters of over 50 leading companies all in one place. What is more, only at JobNation visitors can take Virtual Reality office tours of some of the leading companies in Myanmar. It’s a great opportunity for job seekers to really get to know what companies do in more detail and why they are such great workplaces. This year we have over 50 employers registered” - he said. - “So there is a lot of interest in hiring professionals in almost all work functions. The biggest number of offers today were in sales, business development, finance, and digital marketing”.
Even with the huge number of vacancies offered by leading companies, JobNation is more than a job hunting experience. The event also featured lots of interesting activities, such as career development workshops, seminars and presentations from expert and well renowned speakers. By attending the talks, visitors had an opportunity to enhance their knowledge about career planning, market trends and employers’ demands, as well as practical information on how to grow a career within a specific field.
Companies attending JobNation also received more benefits than just getting a chance to find and meet prospective employees. Most companies choose to participate in such events to further enhance the brand awareness and employer brand reputation in the market. In a talent market as competitive as Myanmar, companies pay special attention on maintaining a top-of-mind employer brand that attracts the best candidates.
