Job Purpose

The Senior Private Sector Development Officer will lead the identification, development, implementation, and administration of private sector development and financial sector projects in Myanmar and provide managerial support in the Yangon Office. The incumbent will be stationed in Yangon. The incumbent will report to the Country Director, MYRM and/or designated International staff in MYRM and Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD) and will supervise Administrative Staff.

Responsibilities

• Leads, undertakes, and supports analytical work on economic and financial issues in Myanmar.
• Leads and supports the conceptualization and design of projects, programs, and technical assistance operations on private sector development and financial sector development in coordination with PSOD.
• Leads and supports the implementation and monitoring of projects, programs, and technical assistance operations in the private sector development and financial sector development.

• Participates in country teams and provide sector inputs for the formulation of Country Partnership Strategies, Country Operations Business Plans, country programming documents, and sector documents.
• Ensures efficient operation of the Yangon Office by providing managerial support, assessing business needs, and providing solutions to potential gaps in processes.
• Performs other duties that may be assigned as reflected in the incumbent’s work plan.

Relevant Experience & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in economics, finance, or relevant fields preferably with Master’s degree in economics, finance, or relevant fields or equivalent.
• At least 10 years of relevant professional experience in the field of corporate, project finance, infrastructure finance, or financial institutions preferably with a leading commercial bank, international financial institution, investment bank, infrastructure fund or consultancy firm.
• In-depth knowledge on private sector and finance sector development.
• Excellent analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
