Job Description

A Big Opportunity for ...

• Provide overall management of the joint WCM/HFHI Wash/DRR pilot project.
• Review and participate in updating as necessary the project’s detailed implementation plan.
• Oversee community needs assessments for WASH/DRR project.
• Provide technical support to the field-based WASH technician. Provide WASH technical advice and training as required.
• Ensure timely completion of monthly and quarterly reports and other reports as required.
• Carry out regular monitoring and evaluation of project activities and outputs.
• Support planning of any agreed external evaluations required.
• Undertake all activities in accordance with World Concern Myanmar management systems and operating procedures, and monitor field-based work to maintain compliance .
• Manage budget allocated for the project and ensure provision of financial reports in accordance with agreed procedures
• Account for any expenditure as per WCM finance procedures
• Liaise closely with partner organizations, other local and international NGOs, health authorities, government and WASH clusters.
• Under the overall direction of the HFHI Asia Pacific Program Adviser (who is based in Bangkok) represent HFHI in the implementation of the joint WCM/HFHI pilot WASH and DRR project.
• Act as HFHI’s key point person in Myanmar
• Participate in needs assessements and draft concepts/proposals for new projects focussing mostly on shelter, WASH and DRR as required.
• Participate in inter-agency WASH and shelter forums
• If required, provide support to the process of HFHI registration with the government of Myanmar

Job Requirements

• Degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline.
• Experience with multiple accountabilities/ reporting relationships.
• Technical knowledge of and at least 3 years experience with community-based water, sanitation and hygiene programming, including an understanding of the key principles of community-led total sanitation (CLTS) and of participatory hygiene and sanitation transformation (PHAST).
• Basic knowledge and experience of disaster risk reduction and response
• A good understanding of the project cycle, including design, planning, monitoring, evaluation and reporting.
• Comfortable with an element of ambiguity in a pioneering role
• Proven ability to work collaboratively
• Excellent spoken and written Myanmar and English.
• Ability to plan one’s own work, set priorities and complete tasks under pressure or when faced with competing demands.
• Willingness/ability to travel to field locations
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to work gracefully under pressure
• Construction knowledge and experience
• Understanding of shelter, water and sanitation issues in the Myanmar context
