Location: Yangon | Mandalay | Nay Pyi Taw | Ayeyarwady | Mawlamyine
Key Responsibilities

  • Review and assess credit proposals submitted by branches and business teams within delegated underwriting authority.
  • Analyze borrower financials, cash flow, repayment capacity, leverage, business model, industry outlook, banking conduct, collateral coverage, and overall risk profile.
  • Ensure completeness and quality of credit applications, appraisal notes, due diligence documents, KYC, financial statements, site visit reports, and collateral documentation prerequisites.
  • Validate compliance with product program parameters, credit policy, prudential limits, sector caps, related-party restrictions, and regulatory requirements.
  • Recommend approval, decline, deferment, risk mitigation, or restructuring conditions based on underwriting findings.
  • Set and document loan covenants, security requirements,disbursement conditions, insurance requirements, and monitoring triggers where applicable.
  • Engage with branches and business teams to clarify proposal weaknesses and improve origination quality without compromising independence of credit judgment.
  • Escalate cases outside delegated limit, policy exceptions, higher-risk exposures, and sensitive accounts to the relevant approving authority or Head Office committee.
  • Monitor underwriting turnaround time, approval quality, early delinquency trends of newly booked accounts, and common portfolio weaknesses from the division.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to branch staff on credit standards, appraisal quality, and documentation expectations.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, banking, accounting, economics, or related discipline.
  • Preferably 3–5 years of relevant banking experience, including practical exposure to credit analysis, appraisal, or underwriting for SME, corporate, retail, or agricultural lending as relevant to the division profile.
  • Sound understanding of financial statement analysis, cash flow assessment, collateral evaluation, and structured credit approval workflow.
  • Strong analytical and credit judgment capability.
  • Independence, integrity, and willingness to challenge weak proposals.
  • Good understanding of sector risks and borrower behavior in local markets.
  • Strong writing and presentation of credit rationale.
