Job Description

Recruitment and appointment

  • Oversee the recruitment process ensuring all the policies and procedures are adhered to 

  • Work with the leadership team for recruitment and appointment

  • Oversee the issuing of offer letters and prepare contracts as required 

  • Ensure that Job descriptions and remuneration packages are produced and issued to applicants as necessary

  • Work with recruitment agencies as required

  • Process criminal reference checks and comply with safer recruitment procedures

  • Support induction programmes for all staff 

  • Monitor probationary periods for support staff and ensure that probationary reviews are carried out at the correct time

Staffing

  • Ensure any changes to role, grade or pay follow the agreed approval processes and are processed as per the agreed procedure 

  • Coordinate the annual appraisal and performance management procedures

  • Undertake the production and review of job descriptions, including person specifications 

  • Develop and maintain accurate staff records

HR administration

  • Advise and support staff  on HR matters, ensuring compliance with HR policies and procedures and seeking advice from  the School Business Manager as necessary 

  • Produce quality work that meets deadlines and is accurately and professionally presented

  • Deliver excellent customer service at all times

  • Provide HR support at appropriate meetings as required

  • Assist with investigations, including providing advice and guidance to colleagues as necessary 

  • Liaison with employee representatives in relation to employment matters

  • Manage the exit process for leaving staff, including conducting exit interviews as required 

  • Support the School Business Development Manager with reports for the Board of Directors and provide accurate and timely management information as and when required 

  • Maintain a log of HR policies and procedures and ensure policies requiring review are drafted in line with current best practice and statutory requirements in readiness for Board of Directors

  • Ensure HR files are created and maintained in keeping with guidance relating to this 

  • Oversee the data cleanse and transfer procedures of staff records where staff are leaving

  • Support the work of the Child Protection team 

  • Ensure compliance with data protection 

  • Liaise with HR consultant as required

  • Ensure that changes in employment law is known and acted upon

  • Supervise HR Executive

Other duties

  • Maintain absence records for internal and payroll purposes 

  • Create absence reports as required 

  • Undertake risk assessments for staff members, ensuring they are up to date, compliant with relevant guidance and all stakeholders are informed of their responsibilities 

  • Support the Staff Wellbeing, attend the Staff Wellbeing Meetings and liaise with the Deputy Headteacher with responsibility for this

  • Ensure that expatriate teachers are well informed about the rules and procedures for immigration in Myanmar

  • Manage the VISA process for all expatriate staff, ensuring that all processes and procedures are followed in a timely manner

  • Support expatriate  staff with accommodation requirements and manage the accommodation process as required

  • A recognised HR qualification

  • Generalist HR experience, with up to date working knowledge of employment law and good HR practice 

  • Experience of handling difficult situations and conversations successfully 

  • Experience operating HR databases 

  • Evidence of further professional development 

  • Experience of working in an education setting 

  • Experience of setting up HR systems and procedures
