The responsibility of a Legal Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing legal matters related to the GRGI’s operations. This role plays a critical role in safeguarding the GRGI’s legal interests and ensuring that all business activities are conducted within the boundaries of the law.

  • Ensuring the GRGI complies with all relevant laws and regulations including product labeling, advertising, and consumer protection laws.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating various contracts, such as supplier agreements, distribution agreements, and employment agreements.
  • Identifying and mitigating legal risks that may impact the GRGI’s operations, such as intellectual property issues product liability, and regulatory compliance.
  • Handling or overseeing any legal disputes, lawsuits or claims that may arise, and working with external counsel when necessary.
  • Keeping abreast of changes in regulations and assisting in obtaining necessary permits and approvals.
  • Protecting and managing the GRGI’s intellectual property, including trademarks patents and copyrights.
  • Ensuring the GRGI’s corporate governance practices are in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Developing and implementing legal policies and procedures to guide the company’s actions and decisions.
  • Providing legal training and guidance to employees and other departments to ensure legal awareness and compliance.
  • Managing the legal department’s budget and external legal expenses.
  • Preparing reports and updates for senior management and participating in strategic decision-making.
  • Conducting internal audits to assess legal compliance and recommending improvements as needed.
  1. Skills or Competency Requirements
  • A deep understanding of relevant laws and regulations including contract law, intellectual property, consumer protection, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English for drafting legal documents, negotiating contracts, and effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to analyze complex legal issues, identify potential risks, and develop practical solutions.
  • Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms in contracts and resolve disputes effectively.
  • The capacity to address legal challenges and find innovative solutions to complex issues.
  • Conducting legal research to give legal advice and support decision-making.
  • Skill in negotiating settlements and agreements.
  • Building relationships with clients, colleagues, and external parties.
  • Staying current with evolving laws and industry trends.

Job Requirements

  • A Law degree from a recognized university or law school (master’s degree (in laws) holder is preferable)
  • At least 5-10 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on corporate and commercial law.
  • Experience in the FMCG industry or a related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, such as Contract &Tort Law, consumer protection laws, Sale of goods Law, Competition Law, Agency Law, advertising regulations, and data privacy laws.
  • Experience in managing and leading a Corporate legal team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Experience working with senior executives and providing legal advice to management teams.
  • Representing the company in legal proceedings and has the right to practice law in the Republic of the union of Myanmar jurisdiction. (Advocateship license in hand)
  • Experience in manages the resources and budget for the legal activity.
