Job Description

A Great Opportunity for ...

This role  is responsible for planning the procurement of Tobacco (Cutfiller) and Non-Tobacco Materials (NTM) for production, ensuring timely delivery without disrupting manufacturing schedules. This role also requires close coordination to manage material shelf life, import license (IL) availability, and SAP IBP/BW processes. The Material Planner also handles claims processing and ensures accurate data for IL preparation. Effective communication with internal teams and suppliers is critical.

As the Materials Planner, you will:

  • Planning, Forecasting & Master data
    • Plan the procurement of Cutfiller and NTM in accordance with the MRP Standard Procedure, ensuring timely material availability for uninterrupted production.
    • Ensure monthly material forecasts are shared with suppliers in line with defined timelines and that supply plans are aligned accordingly.
    • Maintain and update material master data in SAP as per global standards for new and existing materials.
    • Prepare and validate material-related data required for Import License (IL) applications, a regulatory requirement specific in Myanmar, ensuring data accuracy and timely submission to prevent issues or delays in the import process.
    • Ensure completion of all SAP IBP/BW-related planning tasks in line with the global monthly planning calendar.
  • Ordering & Cost Optimization
    • Ensure timely ordering of Cutfiller and NTM in alignment with production plans and supplier timelines.
    • Prioritize purchase price variance (PPV) lot sizes to reduce cost deviations, except for phase-out materials requiring close monitoring.
    • Evaluate container space utilization for imported materials, balancing cost efficiency against write-off risks.
    • In case of delay via sea freight, assess the need for air freight, obtain prior cost approval from relevant stakeholders, and ensure contingency plans are in place.
  • Inventory Management and Shipment Tracking
    • Maintain optimal inventory levels across all material categories to ensure sufficient safety stock and prevent shelf-life expiry (SLED) issues.
    • Monitor shipment lead times and coordinate closely with suppliers, Logistics, and Warehouse teams to ensure on-time delivery of both imported and local materials.
    • Proactively track estimated time of arrival (ETA) and actual delivery against production requirements, resolving any discrepancies to avoid disruptions.
  • Monitoring & Compliance
    • Collaborate with Import/Export team to ensure timely availability of import licenses before shipment departures.
    • Monitor SLED against production usage and coordinate with Quality and Production Planning teams for extensions, where applicable.
    • Ensure all regulatory and internal requirements related to materials planning are met.
    • In case of material defects, liaise promptly with relevant teams to initiate claim procedures and minimize operational impact.
  • Safety, Sustainability & Continuous Improvement
    • Support company initiatives related to safety, sustainability, and waste reduction.
    • Adhere to EHS and engineering standards to maintain a zero Lost Time Injury (LTI) and Recordable Injury (RI) record.
    • Actively participate in ISO audits, 5S3R programs, and global or local improvement projects.
    • Contribute to energy-saving initiatives and ensure environmentally responsible material handling practices.
    • Take part in global and local projects or tasks assigned by the manager.
